Dear Members, family and friends,
I hope this months issue of Fresh Air finds you all fit
and well. Winter is almost over and the solid base offitness you have built over the winter months will paydividends as Spring rolls around.
In business and in life, times change and peoplesgoals, visions and aspirations change. A few monthsago Mark Cohen, my brother and business partner of15 years and I, decided it was time to part ways withinthe Step into Life group of companies.
I announced this to the Step into Life Franchise groupat our annual conference on the Gold Coast on FridayJuly 29th. Mark and I have parted our business inter-ests on good terms and I wish him every success for
the future and I appreciate the contribution he made toStep into Life during his involvement.
I am very excited and passionate about Step into Life, the company I founded and I am looking forward toleading the company into the future.
We have some very exciting items on the agenda toadd to Step into Life group outdoor personal trainingand you will be hearing from me soon about these ex-citing additions, one of which includes a long awaitednutrition / weight loss program! Stay tuned!
I would like to extend a very warm welcome to our newFranchise owners (please see the Franchise directory)and also to the new Franchisees who have taken overexisting Franchise locations. If you have any friends orfamily located near our new Franchise locations, please dont hesitate to give them the encouragementand a kick-start to better fitness and health. Please go to http://www.stepintolife.com.au/tell-a-friend-member.phpand dont forget we do have great refer-ral prizes.

At the Radisson resort on the Gold Coast and I know they are going to be excellent Step into Life enter-
trainers.
It makes me very proud to see people make the decision to become a Step into Life member and im-prove the fitness and health and make a real lifestyle change. It is the ultimate compliment for thesesame members to enjoy the Step into Life family and concept so much that they take the time to assessthe Step into Life franchise opportunity and then become Step into Life franchisees.
Three of the 22 new Franchise owners at this recent training were former members of Step into Life. Wel-come and I wish you every success.
As always Step into Lifers we appreciate and value your feedback. If you would like to drop me an emailand provide some feedback on any topic, I would be happy to receive it on [email protected]

Health and Fitness
Healthy Fast FoodsMost of us have good intentions when it comes to our health. Wed like to eat welland exercise regularly but often the realities of modern day living make this diffi-cult. Fast food whilst convenient can often blow the calorie budget, adding un-wanted saturated fat, salt and sugar to your diet. However, the good news is thatmany fast food outlets have now responded to the demand for healthy foods giv-ing us the ability to look after our bodies plus get some food fast.
Here are a few tips to keep in mind when selecting a meal at a fast food outlet:
Meals made to order such as sandwiches and salads give you the ability to re-
quest certain items are included or left off. Request to have your dressing on
the side, say no to butter or mayonnaise instead ask for a spread of avocado
and for multigrain bread
Always select grilled, steamed or baked as opposed to deep-fried. An un-healthy, high fat fish and chips meal can be quickly turned around by re-
questing your fish is grilled and then include rice and salad instead of chips
Stay away from cream and coconut milk based sauces. These are especially high
in saturated fats. Tomato-based sauces or brothsare good alternatives.
Be aware that drinks such as soft drinks, fruit juice and alcohol can add signifi-
cant calories to your meal very quickly. Smoothies and milkshakes often con-
tain the same amount of calories as a meal! Wateris always a good choice.
Portion sizesat take away outlets and restaurants are often far greater than you
would consume at home. Consider sharing or request for a small or entre
size.
Exploring the world through food can be a lot of fun; here are a few tips to helpkeep you healthy at my top three cuisine picks:
JapaneseSushi is a great choice. Go for rolls containing a good sourceof fresh protein e.g. salmon or tuna and veggies. Brown rice sushi is agreat option. Avoid rolls with loads of mayonnaise.
ChineseBroths, steamed dumplings with lean meat and veggies, stir-frieswith steamed rice and fresh salads are great choices.
ItalianGo for tomato or olive oil based-sauces rather than cream-based.Request half the amount of cheese and extra veggies if ordering a pizza.Bulk your meal up with a garden salad (dressing on the side).
