5x22X math (5 units)students in 5 years.

We have to flip the 5 points math trend

Root Cause Measurement system of teachers Schools principals Lack of students motivation Lack of parents support / motivation Inability of school to provide the classes / teachers Lack of budget to reduce classes size Insufficient # of students to justify open a dedicated class. Under Qualified teachers

5x2 Excellence in STEM Education

Objective Serve as a role model theyd like to imitate. I want to be like him when I grow up Why choosing 5 points and working harder will pay off ? Dont down play 4 points etc. Some will achieve only that. Encourage girls to learn science. The more provocative youll be, the more theyll remember Give positive reinforcement

It starts with sand!Silicon is the second most abundant element in the earth's crust. Common sand has a high percentage of silicon. Silicon - the starting material for computer chips - is a semiconductor, meaning that it can be readily turned into an excellent conductor or an insulator of electricity, by the introduction of minor amounts of impurities.23

In order to be used for computer chips, silicon must be purified so there is less than one alien atom per billion. It is pulled from a melted state to form a solid which is a single, continuous and unbroken crystal lattice in the shape of a cylinder, known as an ingot. The ingot has a diameter of 300mm and weighs about 100 kg. 24

The ingot is cut into individual silicon discs called wafers. Each wafer has a diameter of 300mm and is about 1 mm thick. The wafers are polished until they have flawless, mirror-smooth surfaces. 25

On the right: latest Ivybridge wafer from Intel, each rectangle is a 160mm^2 chip containing 1.4 billion transistors!

26

The wafer is cut into pieces (called die). The die shown here is Intels first 22nm microprocessor codenamed Ivy Bridge. 27

The microprocessor has been called the most complex manufactured product made by man. 28

Average human hair diameter: 100micron, so you can place ~4500 transistors across a hair!

Will these occupations exist 40 years from now?

Are we preparing the next generation for this different market? Are we encouraging the right industries?

The 'pipeline' is clear.. EDUCATION --> ACADEMIA --> R&D32

What about girls?

The Best Way to Predict the Future is to Invent it!

Alan Kay

Alan Kay is a smart chap, but he is no Einstein. And he is not even dead! But he is quoted frequently on what he said, and he deserves it

Alan Kay (born 1940) is an American computer scientist, known for his early pioneering work on object-oriented programming and windowing graphical user interface design. He is the president of the Viewpoints Research Institute, and an Adjunct Professor of Computer Science at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is also on the advisory board of TTI/Vanguard. Until mid 2005, he was a Senior Fellow at HP Labs, a Visiting Professor at Kyoto University, and an Adjunct Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Starting in 1984, Kay was an Apple Fellow at Apple Computer until the closing of the ATG (Advanced Technology Group), one of the company's R&D divisions. He then joined Walt Disney Imagineering as a Disney Fellow and remained there until Disney ended its Disney Fellow program. After Disney, in 2001 he founded Viewpoints Research Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to children, learning, and advanced software development. Later, Kay worked with a team at Applied Minds, then became a Senior Fellow at Hewlett-Packard until HP disbanded the Advanced Software Research Team on July 20 2005. He is currently head of Viewpoints Institute.

Roll the video Thats what I mean by Immersive and intuitive !!A frog which has IQ lower than most of you (those who didnt laugh ) pls. leave the room as you wont undretsand the presentation anyway.

Thats what I want us to create and invent !! Not Cntr Alt Del, but natural user interface. Voice, Gestures, eye tracking, facial recognition, emotion recognition, biometric, I want the computer to understand me, and not for me to understanding the computer.
