Upon acceptance into the program, students are responsible for their own transportation to the college and to all clinical agencies. Students are discouraged from working full-time. Part-time work is possible when grades can be maintained. The clinical schedule for nursing courses includes two clinical days, lab and lecture time each week. The majority of the time, the students spend 15-24 hours per week in scheduled program activities. Associate Degree Nursing (ADN)Graduates of the program receive an Associate in

Applied Science degree and are eligible to apply to the Texas Board of Nursing to take the National Council Licensing Exam to become a Registered Nurse. (Licensing information is on the back of this brochure.) Utilizing hos-pitals and a variety of health care agencies in and around the Bryan/College Station area, Blinn College provides a quality ADN education.

The Blinn College ADN Program is accredited by the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.

Transition Option for Licensed Vocational NursesA special option is available for LVNs who meet spe-

cific admission criteria to complete the ADN Program requirements in one calendar year at either the Bryan or Schulenburg campuses. The LVN must be currently licensed in Texas and have approximately one year of nurs-ing experience. The prerequisites (including RNSG 1201 and RNSG 1300) and other academic courses (EXCEPT for the two electives, which may be taken during the final year of study) must be completed prior to admission. Students admitted to the LVN Transition Option take a transition course during Summer I and join 2nd year students during Summer II.

Associate Degree Nursing ProgramADN Program Admission Criteria:1) Meet testing requirements for Blinn College – THEA or

alternative (ACCUPLACER, COMPASS or ASSET).2) Achieve at least a “C” in all prerequisite and other aca-

demic courses. (NOTE: Most students admitted have above a 3.00 GPA.)

3) Complete prerequisites and as many of the academic courses as possible. Applicants must supply final grades to the ADN Office only if taking courses elsewhere.

4) Complete pre-admission TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) with average or above average score.

5) Must show computer literacy by either high school or college computer science courses. This can be shown by transcript or recent work history with data processing and/or management with letter from employer.

6) International students must have passed all sections of TOEFL.

7) Immunizations must be verified by serologic titer or via proof of immunization. An exception is Hepatitis B, which requires a quantitative titer. Drug screens are required upon admission. Criminal background check must be "favorable" to be eligible for admission.

Application Procedure: Admission to Blinn College: Students must be admitted

to Blinn College in order to begin the ADN Program. Official transcripts will be required by the college. Applications are available on campus and at www.blinn.edu.

January (Fall) or September (Spring): Applications available on ADN website.

March (Fall) and October (Spring): Check website for application due dates. Applications must be returned to the ADN Office or mailed to:

April (Fall) or October (Spring): Pre-admission test. Applicants are notified of their eligibility to take the pre-test.

May (Fall) or December (Spring): Admission Committee selections. Letters will be sent to con-firm selection and inform students about the physi-cal exam, CPR, immunization requirements and program orientation.
