2018 Nomads SA Girls Championship

24 – 26 June 2018 Orkney Golf Club, North West Province

On behalf of GolfRSA, a warm welcome to all players, spectators and chaperones to the Nomads SA Girls Championship. Nomads have made an enormous contribution to amateur golf in SA over many years and the organisation has played a significant role in developing future champions. We are grateful for all that Nomads does and are proud to be associated with them. Our thanks go to all of the tournament organisers, who have put in a mountain of work behind the scenes. Thanks too to the Orkney members for giving up their club to our girls every year. Rest assured, they love playing your course and are eager to return each year. Best of luck to all players in the tournament.

Grant HepburnCEO: GolfRSA

Andrew BullenNomadsNational Chairman

Welcome to the 2018 Nomads SA Girls Championship at Orkney Golf Club. This event has long been one of the highlights of the Nomads calendar and is one that I have been looking forward to attending as Nomads Chairman for some time. It is a privilege for Nomads to be a part of and to support this event through our Furtherance of Golf division. Thanks to the tireless scoring work of Nomads at various Sunshine Tour events – a service that has been going on for over five decades – we are proud to be able to invest in the growth of the game in South Africa, particularly when it comes to women’s and junior golf. It is wonderful to see how this tournament has made a home for itself at Orkney. Much of that comes down to the hospitality that players and officials receive from Hein and his team. Thank you to everyone at Orkney and NWWG for making this event happen. Our thanks also go to all at WGSA and GolfRSA who put in much hard work behind the scenes to ensure event’s smooth running. Good luck to all players this week, may each one of you have a wonderful experience.

A very warm welcome to all our juniors, parents and friends to the 2018 Nomads SA Girls Championship. Orkney GC manager Hein Kuchar and his team always make us feel so welcome and go the extra mile to ensure that the tourna-ment runs smoothly. And we are immensely grateful to all the staff at The Key who ensure we are safe, as well as fed and watered.A big thank you to Anita Lamprecht, the President of North West Womens Golf Union, and to Jenny Forssman, the Ladies Captain, and her team who get up early each morning and spend hours on the course providing parents and family the opportunity to follow their girls on the live scoring on www.golfrsa.co.za. We are very grateful to all the union chaperones who give up their time to look after the players and ensure their safety.A championship of this magnitude can only be the success it is due to those that support it, and we are enormously grateful for the continued support of that wonderful organisation, the Nomads. The Golforama section of Nomads is responsible for live scoring at all the professional golf tournaments in South Africa, and the income that they generate through their hard work at these events allows us to become one of their beneficiaries. This is a very exciting time for junior golf and we have seen incredible growth and development among our young players over the last few years. No fewer than six juniors currently rank within the top 10 of the WGSA Open Order of Merit. I am sure they will all be working very hard to ensure they are at the top of the leader-board when the last putt drops. Finally, to the players: uphold the traditions of this great game, foster the new friendships you will form and enjoy a successful championship.
