Ziyi LIU

Ziyi Liu, now in her third year in Wuhan University, is going to be graduating in 2014 with a bachelor degree in Politics and Public Management. Born in Inner Mongolia and then brought up in Tianjin, she has traveled through most of the provinces in Northwestern China and several Asian countries. Guided by her parents, she also spent a lot of time on reading and following latest reports on the social issues in Mainland China. Over the past three years in college, she has done jobs as a journalist, environmental activist, public speaking trainer and chief Campus Associate for Teach For China. After taking part in a leadership training camp in the U.S.,

she brought the idea of “Building up networks to make a difference” back to student reading clubs and Non-profit Groups in Wuhan University, then trying to integrate the experience of organizing and human resources in those major student societies. Apart from the campus jobs, she followed the civic movement fighting for educational equity (movement website blocked) in Beijing and organized one in Wuhan which is meant to change university policies. Those experiences taught her a lot on organizing and mobilization skills and made her more interested in Civil Society Theories. With the awareness and motivation in making changes, she has been very committed to public service since junior high. After graduation, she is planning to learn more about CSR and Public Policy Consulting in the next couple of years. As for the long term career goals, she wishes to devote her ideas and capacity to academic research and social enterprises.

Weinan WU

Weinan born in a small village belong to Changde city of Hunan province. And he graduated from Qingdao University in 2011 majoring in Social Work.

From Feb 2011 to Jul 2012, worked as a social worker in school in Shenzhen, and became one of the first groups of Free Lunch for Children Foundation volunteers, participated in building the volunteer team in Shenzhen, and organized a series of related activities. From Jul 2012 till now, work in China Rural Kids Care Foundation set up for village children; strive for fair medical opportunities and rights for village children.

With ordinary laborers working under low security and low welfare, China maintained a high speed economic development in the past 30 years, which will eventually not be sustainable. Regardless of unequal distribution of wealth, a social welfare movement is needed urgently. I believe this will be a turning point for China's social reform. With media's pushing forward, every citizen can play a more active and important role. The moment we voice our needs, the moment we take actions, changes happen accordingly. Actions change China. Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

Haoyue ZHANG

Tong ZHOU

I have devoted into NGO once after graduation and builds Charity Shop in China together with a lovely team.

During one-year work, I have learnt a lot from working together with Disabled employees, including treating every different people from a strength perspective, dealing with a social problem in a more innovated way, and solving every question down to earth.

Also, I have realized that each person’s advantage and disadvantage is relative. If one day the whole world is full of darkness, the blind and visually impaired people

will have more survival advantages than any others.

“Try to understand them, help them bring their advantages into play, and let everyone enjoy the rights.”

“Hope one day our experiences of helping people with disabilities in China can let everyone agree our views that: Everyone has value.”

Fei WANG

Though born and raised in Wuhan, this is my eighth year in the United States. I spent my undergraduate years in a small town in Central Pennsylvania. After being selected as a Change Leader with Oxfam America, I was deeply involved with various local community development initiatives. Undergraduate studies also sparkled my interest in environmental and natural resource economics, which led me to an opportunity to observe international climate change policy-making in action at the United Nations. The experience at the UN confirmed my interest in environment and energy

related issues, but also exposed my lack of technical knowledge of the field, which inspired me to pursue a graduate degree in energy and environment. I currently work at an energy/environment consulting firm in Washington, DC.I have been a blogger since coming to the States. While the initial intent was to keep in touch with friends through written words, I have soon discovered that writing has become a necessary step for me to think critically. I have been closely following the grassroots movement in China as a result of demanding environmental justice for citizens, and I sincerely hope I can be part of it in a constructive way.

Ziyi QIN

Abigail Ziyi Qin is an undergraduate law school student studying in Beijing. With the strong uncertainty of where she belongs to, due to all the cities and cultures she has got through during her life, she might have a more complicated and bittersweet concern about what "China" is and who people are inside this entity. Impressed by the scholars' attempts for academic pursuit, she is considering about bringing intelligence, knowledge and the rationality gained from university into social actions. Now, she is looking forward to the construction of well-interactive communities where people can realize "empowerment" and make better lives for

themselves. Also, she believes that China is now in lack of a common ground to begin every discussion and recently, Chinese women (especial the young)'s awkward gesture in the seams of men's social domination has puzzled her a lot.

Luyuan PAN Currently working in settle as a postodoc research fellow on biology. I started my volunteer life in January, 2003. I have worked for two social pubic networks “light of Hope” and “Baixi”, in last 10 years. In this spring, March 2013, Baixi has been approved as a private charity foundation in Guangdong, China. I was elected the council member of new Baixi Education Foundation. Baixi is a real grassroots organization. Our major concern is the educational status in the less-developed regions in China. We use our forum on line as a platform to integrate the resources from ordinary netizens, then use those resources to help the school and students under harsh conditions. In our team, I am in charge of promotion, and preparation of some

projects. Social volunteer is not my major job, but rather a very important component of life. Volunteer work has brought me abundant experience, more friends, a greater vision of the world, and extra life value outside my regular job. I hope, in the future, I can contribute more, longer and better in my volunteer career.

Borong WANG

Nobody likes to fail but failure is an essential part of life and of learning. If your uniform isn't dirty, you haven't been in the game. Indeed life is so, society is also true. Fourteen years ago, abandoning the so-called stable life the others’ eyes, I came across the oceans to study abroad in order to find my own life. After graduation I came back to my homeland and started my company in order to achieve my ideals. When the company reached a certain size, we found that it is our obligation to take more social responsibility and help others, therefore we chose to go to the agricultural field to realize our

Own best in tension to help others, and then we knew that we had been dressed In clean clothes be side meddling. In the real world, there is poverty, In justice, ignorance and hatred, but there are also compassion, caring, mutual aid, dignity, freedom, and happiness. Our team will roll up their sleeves and work together with all the friends, who pay attention to" three rural issues, environmental issues, food safety issues" to improve the current situation in China.
