Ray SCHOOLEY of Omega died in his home at 2 p.m.

Sunday. Mr. SCHOOLEY had been ill for some time.

Before he was taken ill, Mr. SCHOOLEY was a

blacksmith in Omega. Mr. SCHOOLEY was 64.

- Feb. 27, 1947)

Son of Robert M. and Maria Schooley;

Born near Shoals, Indiana April 15, 1882 and died Feb.

23, 1947. He, with his parents moved to Illinois when

was about two years old, and located in Omega where he

spent his entire life, excepting one year in Ellsworth, Ill.

and one year in Iuka.. On New Years eve, 1910, he was

married to Miss Valeria VanCleve and with his father

operated a blacksmith shop, he and his wife making a

home for his father after the mother has passed away,

until his father died in March of 1937. Two children

came to bless this union, Mrs. Vera Mulvaney of near

Farina and Glen Schooley of Omega, and these children

and their children were a source of joy and pleasure to

him when they came to visit him during his illness.

He leaves his wife; 1 daughter Mrs. Vera Mulvaney and

her husband Ollie Mulvaney, 1 son, Glen Schooley and

his wife Zettie Schooley, six grandchildren, also one

sister, Mrs. Virdie Lonnon, two nieces, Mrs. Lois

Alderson and Mrs. Myrle Helm, a number of cousins and

a host of friends.

Monday Morning: Mrs. Nellie GREGORY, 78, widow of

J.E. GREGORY, was found dead Monday morning at her

home in Alma. She was hanging by a clothesline rope

from the roof of her back porch. She was found by

Clifford ALLMON, who always run errands for her at

7:30 o’clock. A neighbor, Mrs. Blanche AUSTIN, said

that she had seen her at 6 o’clock that morning. There

was no evidence of foul play. Mrs. GREGORY was

reported to be in poor health for several years and had

become increasingly despondent of late. She leaves a

step-daughter, Mrs. Lottie WILLIAMS, Alma; three step-

sons, Roy and Rolla, Alma; and W.E. GREGORY, Iuka.

Also two nephews, Frank SIMER of Omega, and Clay B.

soldier of the rebellion and was very prominent in G.A.R.

circles.

Noah, son of Thomas Monroe and Adelia MARLOW,

was born Nov. 17, 1891, on a farm near Omega, Ill.

attending public school and Sunday School in that small

village. His father died when Noah was 17 years of age,

and he was the eldest son of a large family, he willingly

accepted the great responsibility of helping his mother

manage the farm and rear the younger brothers and

sisters. He joined the Presbyterian church at the age of

18 years. On Jan. 14, 1914, he married Miss Anna

ENGELBRECHT of Kinmundy, and they had 1 son,

Monroe. Sonny, as he was lovingly called, has been a

gleam of light and gladness, not only to his parents, but

also to his mother’s sisters where he has made his home

the past 5 years while attending school at Champaign.

Mrs. MARLOW has taught school all the years of their

married life excepting 3. Besides his father, 4 sisters

have preceded him in death. His mother, 4 sisters, and 3

brothers still survive: Mrs. Minnie CHEELEY, Donald

and Douglas MARLOW of Omega; Herschel MARLOW

of Bloomington; Mrs. Velva KENNEDY, of Sandoval;

Mrs. Luana BAILEY of Chicago; and Mrs. Agnes

He was the youngest of 6 children, 2 sisters and 4

brothers, all of whom have preceded him in death. In

1884, he, with his wife and daughter went to Colorado

and took up a State claim of a section of land. He lived

on it and proved his rights of possession, making his

home there, sheltered near the great rockies for more

than 8 years. At the request of his aged father he with his

increased family of 3 children returned to his father’s

side in Kinmundy in the spring of 1892, then moved the

following fall to his farm east of Omega. He leaves his

wife and children, namely, Mrs. Jessie MORROW,

Byron E. and Ben MILLICAN all of Omega twp.; 1

daughter, Agnes MILLICAN HULTS preceded him in

death on Aug. 4, 1915. He also leaves several

grandchildren, 2 of which were the children of the

deceased daughter, namely, Darrel HULTS of Omega,

and Nelda Agnes HULTS KEISTLER of Salem. They

were taken into the home of their grandparents and loved

and cherished as their own children.. Until his death, he

was an ardent lover of music. He fostered many classes

in the community, helping others to appreciate the best in

music. Mr. MILLICAN was an ardent promoter of

education during his lifetime, and for a short time was a

teacher in the rural schools. He was known for several

miles around for the making of delicious maple syrup

and maple sugar

Centralia Hospital since, suffering from an infected knee.

His leg was removed last week but the shock was too .

Centralia Hospital with head injuries and a crushed knee;

Mrs. Anne DONOVAN, 50, of Bloomington, is also

dead, and her husband, B.M. DONOVAN, 50, is in the

Salem Hospital with back injuries, all the result of a

collision on U.S. Route 50, 4 miles east of Salem on

Tuesday. PHILLIPS and LONNON had been in Salem

on business and were returning to their home. The

DONOVAN’s had been vacationing in Florida and were

returning to Bloomington. The DONOVAN car skidded

on the snow covered pavement and the head-on collision

resulted.
