THIS YEAR...Was our toughest, craziest, busiest year to date. Moving our warehouse to Santa Fe Springs, to launching 180 Distribution and with the launch of our new brand, Resist Parts. We are excited to what the future holds for us and the possibilities that lie ahead for each of our brands and 180 Distribution.

Started with Resist which began early in the year. Resist was all due to Volume making too many parts that we swore Volume would never do. Resist focuses on parts for fixed, 26” and our new line of commuter bikes. The possibilities are. The natural progression of Volume/ Resist works hand in hand. We can’t wait to get more product out to bicycle enthusiasts that have the need for strong parts that can take a beating.

This year’s end designs are the best you’ve probably seen from Volume. From our new BMX frame, the Drifter, to this year’s Sledgehammer Bike, to our newest venture the Generator commuter bike. Each item has been in the works for over a year and we feel like we’ve worked out the bugs and now have the most solid frames/ bikes to date.

For Demolition we refocused on packaging, the site and put a huge emphasis on the parts. We completely redesigned each item listed. We realized that some parts were dated and had some problems, so we dug into each item…hard. We sat down with the team for a full redesign and tested each item to the point of no return. If you haven’t seen who’s on our team, the list is unbelievable. We did longer testing of new samples and the outcome is awesome.

Majority of our frames come with heat-treated tubing. This allows the tubing to be stiffer/ stronger due to altering the chemical property of the metal.

Not only do tapered tubes add a great aesthetic look, they taper to a smaller diameter to where the tube doesn’t get a lot of stress. This method allows the tube to be lighter w/o sacrificing strength.

Similar to the tapered tube description above but ovalized tubes that we usually use on our chainstays allows more tire clearance and really stiffens up the triangle

Low stand-over frames got popular back in the day and due to riders wanting more cockpit room. Some felt as though the bike looked better with the seat slammed and with a lower seat tube height. Personal preference feature.

Taller stand-over frames were the norm. Back in the day and are slowly on the rise again. Taller seat tubes allow a rider to sit (yeah, I said it) comfortably and grip the seat better for barspins. Personal preference feature.

FEATURES:Our first Generator frame was from one of our CRMO, single speed frames that we used to jump around on. We later transformed it into a full-on commuter with an 8-speed Alfine hub and front and rear caliper brakes. Some of the main features we always wanted were an eccentric bottom bracket and fixed dropout that give it a simple and clean look. We also stepped up to dual piston, hydraulic disc brakes.

In true Rob fashion, he ignored the pain and got on a plane back to the States instead of getting looked at in Spain. He later found out the hard way on the plane trip back he said it was tremendously painful. When Rob landed State-side, the doctors said if he ignored it for another couple hours, he would have died due to loss of blood. If none of you guys have ever seen Rob ride in video or in person, you’re in for a treat. I’ve been seeing the footage roll in of Rob for Last Chance, it’s the gnarliest, most technical new riding that I’ve seen in a long time. Rob is the definition of “FULL THROTTLE!”

Our main influence is from BMX but as we all got older our interests started to drift to other types of bicycles. Fixed, commuters, 26” BMX, road and MTB’s. You name it, we’ll ride it! What we learned is that every bike we rode we treated it as a BMX bike. We always looked at each bike with a BMX spin. Whether it be a commuter or fixed gear bike, it always had our BMX parts on it. And of course we jumped and crashed them just like any of our 20” bikes too.

Last year it hit us to start a parts brand for those exact needs, for those guys like us that want to put BMX influenced parts on their “adult” sized bikes to take the abuse.
