The eight-pointedstarpatternbegantoappearinRioGrandeweavingsinthemidtolate1800s.Thefivestarplacementfeaturesonestarineachcornerandonelargestarinthecenter.IntheHispanicweavingtradition,theseuniqueandvibrantweavingsbecameknownasthe"ValleroStar”or"Trampas-Vallero”blankets[2].Della’sgreat-greatgrandmotherMartinaMontoya,fromElValle,NM(hence,thename“Vallero”)andhersisterswereallinvolvedintheweavingtrade.[1] “ATraditionofMakingStrawintoGold.”TheCollector’sGuide.June5,2006.
