Music Video Equipment

By Aidan Cheng

Sony hvra1e:

Handheld camera, with microphone attached, it has HD capabilities meaning high resolution images can be shot and in high definition.

The Crane

When a camera is attached to the arm of this device, I will be able to manipulate it it’s position from a variety of high and low angles, providing a larger scale for my footage and more grander sweeps and movements.

The Autocue

By mirroring typed text from the lower screen, my performers will be able to mimic to lyrics in the video – without the necessity of learning them fully- or rather, should they forget the lyrics, have additional backup of the autocue.

The Tripod/Dolly

When the camera is stationary, a tripod can be used to keep a smooth shot of the action. The dolly can be used to smoothly wheel the camera in different directions providing me with the opportunity to track and move without shaking .

Spotlight

To create a better quality photo with less influence of other light sources, this spotlight can be used to create more professional looking photos with higher resolution.

Visual Switcher

Particularly useful during the shooting of live performance. This device allows you to flick between different cameras one might be using to film the action.

Canon xm2

A HD handheld camera, capable of shooting in low-lighting sets.

Fill Light

This manipulates the background colour of your footage.

Canon 550D

A handheld photo-camera used for stills. It can be used to enhance the depth of field of imagery – a convention of music videos.
