Please note, this sizing information applies to current shoe inventory. G2 (available in 5.10) will include a woman’s 14/men’s 12.5 in the shel, and a women’s 11 in the star.

kigo footwear is a genius feat of engineering. The lightweight, completely malleable flats can be rolled in half, then squeezed into a corner of your carryall until a situation calls for extra-comfy shoes. (We pulled on a pair and they wrapped around our feet like a second skin.)

It’s often mentioned in barefoot running circles how nice it would be if someone could make a “one finger” shoe – in other words, something that offers all the minimalist benefits of Vibram’s industry-standard FiveFingers, but in a package that keeps the toes together for increased warmth or improved comfort. (Or, you know ... perhaps to avoid looking like a freak.) Kigo is one company that has taken that challenge upon themselves, and they’ve come pretty close to creating a shoe that meets this demand. Considering that it wasn’t originally intended as an athletic shoe, the Shel has come remarkably close to the perfect combination of design, comfort, and durability for minimalist runners. I think it has tremendous potential to become the “one finger” alternative that many barefooters are looking for, at a price point that is extremely attractive.

Kigo Stars get high marks from me for cuteness and their comfortable, lightweight, barefoot feel. If you haven’t been willing to walk to work (or to the bus stop) because you didn’t want to sacrifice style, Kigo Stars could very well get you out of the car and put some spring in your step.

When putting on the shoes with bare feet, what becomes immediately apparent is that the fabric (CYCLEPET) is incredibly comfortable. I haven't felt a fabric quite like this before; it is silky smooth against the skin and has a subtle stretch to it. It is very clear when putting them on for the first time that these shoes were designed for bare feet, because they feel great from the inside.  The soles are rubber with a swirly grip pattern on the bottom…Overall the shoes are very flexible where they need it most: the front two-thirds being similar in flexibility to Vibram FiveFingers. I think a lot of people… will find this to be a great minimalist shoe. They are well constructed, reasonably priced, and made by a company that is concerned about it's [sic] global impact. –Adventure in Progress
