An overview of the KAPTUR project

Introduction to Research Data Management at University of the

Arts London – 19 November 2012

1 October 2011 – 31 March 2013

Aims KAPTUR will discover, create and pilot a sectoral

model of best practice in the management of research

data in the visual arts.

Kaptur will support the creation of the model

Apply, test and pilot it within the respective institutions.

Results will be fed back into the model, revised & then

published freely to the wider HE community for use and

reuse.

Outcomes 1 Environmental analysis report

Sectoral model of best practice in the management of

research data specifications

Toolkits, training materials, workshops, case studies,

guidance notes, policies, technical requirements

analysis, and financial and sustainability plans.

Outcomes 2 Creation of a pilot demonstrator data management

research service.

Creation of four institutional pilot data management

research systems.

Project Milestones 1 • Monthly progress reports

• Environmental Assessment Report

• Research Data Management Discussion paper

• Technical Analysis Report

• Training Plan

• Four Institutional Workshops for visual arts data

managers

Project Milestones 2 • Toolkit for visual arts researchers

and in the process of approval)
