InfoTrac Databases: Basic Searching

Click or use your arrow keys to

move from slide to slide

Click on Forsyth Library

To find the library’s website from the

FHSU home page at www.fhsu.edu:

Click “Find Articles &

Databases”

Important: If you are off-

campus, you must first set up off-

campus access in order to search the databases.

Click Databases

Alphabetical List of Databases

Click

InfoTrac Databases

InfoTrac databases cover

different subjects and can be

searched singly or in

combination.

Click on a title to search that

database, select a

combination, or click

“Continue” to search all of

them at once.

If you aren’t sure which

to choose, try selecting

General OneFile

and Academic OneFile.

These cover nearly

every subject and are

excellent for most

research topics.

Check the boxes and

click “Continue”

at the top

Click “Basic Search”

You can limit your search to only find:

• full-text articles(you can access the complete article) and/or to

• peer-reviewed (scholarly, academic journal) articles,

• and/or those with images (graphs, tables, photos), then search.

Basic Search

Type in one or two of the most

important words in your topic. Connect

two terms with “and” if desired.

Results page

Magazine articles are

automatically shown first.

Make a selection under

“Content Types” to view

others

Your search terms are

shown here:

Click Full-Text or the title to see the article

Note the related subjects listed

here. Click one to bring up a

new list of articles on that topic.

Use the tools in the toolbox to print,

e-mail, etc. You can also translate or

hear an audio version of the article.
