space syntax

We will use space syntax to simulate the effects of street designs on the citizen and visitor who move around in the city.

The problems of our sitePROBLEMS traffic congestion environmental degradation unattractive for visitors and inhabitants. No Parking Narrow streets pedestrian path Unplanned land use Shortage of open space

Solutions reverse any further degradation of our assigned

area achieve economic gains Create safety environment for resident and

commercial visitors conserve the environment Reduce carbon emission through space syntax Create sustainable economic

THE CHALLENGE revitalizing brown fields by identifying understanding &

providing solutions to problems that have emerged through its recent rapid growth.

THE MAIN GOAL IS

spatial layout , the social, economic and environmental performance of places.

Space Syntax analysis has made five key discoveries that demonstrate how spatial layout directly affects:

-movement, such that Space Syntax models can be used as strategic traffic modeling tools for vehicle, pedestrian and cycling movement

-land use, showing how land use performance is deeply influenced by spatial location

-safety, allowing risk to be identified and safer places to be created - land value, demonstrating the influence of spatial networks on

property economics- carbon emissions, highlighting the contribution of spatial planning

and design to environmental impact.

We analyze the axial map in our Site:

• Axial mapdepicts the least number of axial lines covering all convex spaces of a layout and their connections.

Measurements we used the four measurements to analyze the spaces of

our site.1. Integration2. Connectivity3. Choice 4. Mean depth

Methodology The methodology included analyses at two different scales 1. local scale.2. Global scalesegment map for the entire site by space

syntax.integration and choice values to see how the Hafiz jamal road and the Dolat

gate Alang of the town is related to each other.

Connectivity It is a static local measure measures the number of immediate neighbors that are

directly connected to the spaces.

It will show you how often a street is connected to another street.

Connectivity of our site from primary road

Connectivity

Local Connectivity

Integration It will describes the average depth of a space to all

other spaces in our site It will describes how easy it is to get to one segment

from all other segments. It will tell you how many times you will turn to reach

your location

Local IntegrationMin.1.8

choiceis a dynamic measure of the “flow”

through a space. A space has a strong choice value

when many of the shortest paths, connecting all spaces to all spaces of a system, passes through it.

Location map for siteLocal choice

Analysis at the local scalechoice

Our site has a choice value Because little short paths & narrow strrets connecting all

spaces to all spaces of our assigned area, passes through it.

Elements Paths: channels along which the observer customarily ……moves” Nodespoints of intense activity & strategic spots in a city.” Edgesthe boundaries between two areas” Districtsrepresent medium-to-large sections of the city” Landmarksphysical reference points”
