Description
What is it? The ability to control VM power management based on resource usage. VM archiving allows us to automatically move VMs that are powered off into secondary tier datastores via Storage vMotion and then archive these off to disk/tape for long term retention.
VM Resource Management: Use limited Physical Infrastructure resources more intelligently
VM Storage Management: Extend the storage available by archiving off unused VMs to tier 2 disk, or even tape
VM Archiving: Use Critical Storage more efficiently, automatically move VMs that are powered off into secondary tier datastores
Further shift into Private Cloud ProtectionDirect vCloud Director Integration
Description Benefits
Capture Metadata associated with vCloud VMs/vApps and provide direct recovery into vCloud Director
Protection Policies per Org/Tenant per SLAs Use Resource pool affinity to drive protection policies based on SLAs promised to different tenants/vOrgs.
IntelliSnap for Operational Safety Recovery Copy: Create a fast/low impact recovery copy independent of customer promised SLAs.
Recover vApps directly into vCloud: Enables faster recovery for vApps with no manual intervention.
Web tools to enable self-service and Custom SLAs: Web Console and command line with flexible policy management to drive custom SLAs per tenant

The Summary
All Workloads aren’t created equal.. Different protection approaches are needed for different Machines.
Just because you can… Doesn’t mean you should. Choose the best protection and recovery approach needed by each VM or physical Machine.
Customize recovery SLAs with Discovery and FilteringSnap/Mirroring for Most Demanding RPOsWAN-optimized deduplication and incremental forever
Eliminate VM waste by automating the reclamation of unused resources. Free up expensive tier 1 disk and vSphere licensing.
Advanced protection, replication and recovery options allow for a customized ‘best fit’ DR deployment with the assistance of workflows.
THANK YOU!
