22ND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME SEPTEMBER 3 , 2017 PG. 3
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Votive Candles: You may have noticed that we have replaced all the votive candle stands in the church with electrical
ones. They are not brand new but they seem to work well. I picked them up from the Archdiocesan Store, a
Patrimony of the Archdiocese located on the grounds of the Mount Loretto. A nominal fee must be paid for
handling charges, etc.. Also, I noticed that some of them are a little defective. I need an electrician who can
look into this and advise me. The reason we switched to the electrical candles is because we have met with
on-going difficulties as well as causing some fire hazards. Please have patience when using them. You may
need to press the ignition button a little hard to light some of them. Hopefully, they will add a little more
beauty and elegance to the interior of the church.
Weekend Offerings:
The offering counters tell me that during these past few weeks, the offering envelopes have been rather
scarce. I think it is because the month of August people go away for short periods of time and last minute
vacations. I am certain we will catch up. Please keep in mind the special collections that are coming up
soon: the Latin American and Native Missions. In the same vein, I trust the Archdiocese will be requesting
all the parishes to have a special collection for the victims of hurricane Harvey in Texas. I shall keep you
posted on it.
Parish Pay:
During the past few weeks we have been informed by the company that some parishioner accounts
have not been updated. This may be due to multiple reasons: change of credit card , bank accounts, etc.. The
rectory office has informed those concerned. While I wish to thank all those who use Parish Pay, I invite
others to join the group.
APPEAL FOR LIAISON WITH ARCHDIOCESE AND PARISH:
Last Sunday, I made my desperate appeal for one or two people to act as the liaison with the
Archdiocesan headquarters to organize events that will be taking place in the coming months in
Manhattan. So far, I have not heard from anyone who would like this responsibility. Well, there is still time!
Please contact the rectory if you are interested.
Golf Outing: Behind the scenes there are an enormous amount of effort and hard work being made on the part of the
Golf Committee to make this our biggest Parish Fundraiser, the best ever!! If you have not joined in on
this great day, please do so! There will be tables set up two weekends after labor day for you to join in .We
will also be selling tickets and raffles for great prizes to win. You can be a golfer, sponsor a hole, or just at-
tend the luncheon. Of course, if you are unable to attend that day, your monetary donation to the Golf
Outing is always appreciated. We look forward to seeing you!!
Altar Servers:
I have some good news to share. A few children called the rectory to become altar servers!
Please ,we need more. Encourage your children to do so. If interested, please call the rectory.
May God bless you and Happy Labor Day to all.
Fr. Frank
