Why do we set Goals?

When the archer misses the mark he turns and looks for the fault within himself. Failure to hit the bulls-eye is never the fault of the target.

S-Specific• Goals need to be

M-MeasurableSet specific criteria for measuring progress

A-AttainableGoals must provide a stretch that inspire us to aim higher without being a set-up for failure.

R -RelevantYour goal must be consistent with other goals established and be connected to your organization’s objectives.

T-TimelyYour goals must include a timeline, including a starting date and a target date of when your objectives should be accomplished.

Sharing goalsResearch recently conducted by Matthews shows that people who wrote down their goals, shared this information with a friend, and sent weekly updates to that friend were on average 33% more successful in accomplishing their stated goals than those who merely formulated goals.
