Learning CentersO 4 to 6 structured learning centers are

introduced and open each dayO At the beginning of the school year,

centers begin very structured and assigned; students progress to a more independent level, where they make choices and transition independently.

O Students use their pictures (a small 2X2 photograph) to indicate their center choices.

Work with Teacher Center

O During work with teacher time, students have an opportunity to work one-to-one with teacher or paraprofessional, on specific student’s IEP objectives.

O The i-pad has motivating activities and direct teach lessons that can be used during this time.

O Other students are moving through structured learning centers, and independent work time.

Communication Development

O Time is devoted to developing language with students’ communication devices.

O Teacher spends time one to one with students; other students get time to work with the iPad or work in a center.

O Great time for the teacher to work on communication with certain students.

O Speech Therapist also spends time working with students during therapy time.

iPad apps: SplashtopO Splashtop is a remote desktop app available

for the iPad and iPhone (even Android version)

O The app enables us to utilize the iPad as a wireless slate with our students.

O It has increased accessibility for students with limited mobility or who struggle with reaching the Smartboard.

O Additionally, the app has allowed access to desktop applications (i.e. Boardmaker) during table time activities.

Things to know about Splashtop

O Price fluctuates throughout the year (Currently the iPad version is $9.99)

O In order for the app to work, the iPad and the computer its remoting into must be connected to the same network.

O The app works best when the computer it’s remoting into is connected to the internet through an ethernet cable.
