DRIFT NETS
The use of nets for fishes swimming near to the surface
of the water
TRAWLING
A cone-shaped net is pulled by a ship called a TRAWLER,
over the sea-bed.
Used for demersal fish (found on or near the sea floor)
TROLLING
Towing lines behind a boat that moves at a moderate
speed.
Used for pelagic fishes like tuna (swim near the surface).
SEINING
A net is kept floating vertically in the sea suing corks,
while 2 small boats use it to encircle a school of fish.
The net is then dragged onto the boats or shore and the
trapped fish is then removed.
LINING
Long lines with as many as 1000 hooks are towed along
by a boat or ship.
