The November 19th Greater Romulus Cham-
ber of Commerce Business Luncheon , held at
the Best Western International Hotel in Romu-
lus, featured Florence Klein as guest speaker.
Florence is the founder of the Helping Hand
Thrift Shop located at 37510 Huron River
Drive near Five Points and next to the Romulus
Bowling Lanes.
Helping Hand Thrift Shop has been in opera-
tion for 35 years, helping the less fortunate by
providing food, clothing and dry goods—free
of charge. During the Thanksgiving and
Christmas holidays, countless canned goods,
turkeys, hams and other food commodities are
distributed to families in the area.
Klein shared her story and described how
their mission to help the area families is being
challenged in 2013. There is has been a sub-
stantial increase in the number of requests for
help.
At the end of her presentation, Chamber Pres-
ident Dave Goodwin presented Florence with
a $100 donation, along with several turkeys
and canned goods.

November high winds and rain
took it’s toll on the Romulus Cham-
ber of Commerce Office!
Storm damage to Chamber com-
munications included the main com-
puter shutting down, no internet
access, phone service knocked out
and links to the office copier lost!
The office is slowly recovering from
the damage. The computer has
been repaired and internet access
has been restored. Unfortunately,
phone service is still out! When
phoning the office, chances are you
will reach a recorded message.
Please don’t hang up! Leave a
brief message and Bill Kren will
return your call.
Thank you for your patience and
your understanding.
