PresidentsPonderings
Tossing the Keys!
It seems like only yesterday. Our oldest son
passed all the tests. He was 16 years old and the
state now recognized him as a legal, licensed
drive.
Sue and I stood on the sidewalk near our home, holding hands and silently praying. It was a
transitional moment in the life of our family!Reluctantly, we handed our son the keys to the
car for his first solo run.
It seems like only yesterday. We watched him
pull away from the curb and out into traffic,
confirming to us that something tremendous hadjust taken place. This was a step of growth. We
had given our son an adult responsibility. Our
oldest had been released into an adult world andwe realized his life had permanently changed. Hewas moving forwardhe would never turn back.
Early in 1978 a group of individuals representingindustry, businesses, and local government met
together and incorporated the Romulus Chamber
of Commerce. Dr. Clarence Carpenter, RobertBureck, William Dorne, John Brimble, Doug
Baum, Bill Simonds, and Jay Young (just to name
a few) had a vision and a purpose. They worked
together for their community and when the timewas appropriate, they tossed the keys to another
group! They demonstrated their trust in a new
assembly of individuals who would serve as
elected officers in the Chamber; trusting that theywould move forward and never look back!
Thank You,

Spring is Here
Spring is here and Summer is on its tail. Does
your store or windows need a face lift? Keepfresh new ideas and displays to attract custom-
ers and entice that buying decision. Even if you
just move things around and change colors, its
a new look. Ask your suppliers for any newsigns and in-store display material they can
give you. A new look can generate new sales.
