State Representative Douglas Geiss
was the special guest speaker at the
February 10, 2014 Romulus Chamber
Business Luncheon, held at the Holi-
day Inn, Romulus.
Geiss shared updates on the Romu-
lus injection well facility and his con-
cern with the transport and disposal
of toxic waste in Romulus.
He also assured his constituents of
his continuing efforts to secure finan-
cial assistance for the Romulus
school district.
In late August, the Inkster school dis-
trict was dissolved by the State. The
added burden of the dissolution of the
Inkster Public Schools affected 2,200
students, who were sent to nearby
Wayne-Westland, Romulus and Tay-
lor school districts for the 2013-2014
school year. In addition, Romulus
was forced to take control of various
Inkster school buildings.
At the close of his remarks, Geiss re-
minded guests that because of term
limits, he will finish his term of office
as State Representative and return to
the private sector in ten months.
He stressed his appreciation for the
opportunity to serve in the 12th Dis-
trict and announced that his wife Erika
will be a candidate in the August 5,
2014 primary.

Public Service Credit Union hosted a ceremony on Wednesday, February 12 th to celebrate one of their mem-bers winning a $10,000 Grand Prize. Larry Miller was a member participating in the “Save to Win” program
at the credit union and by opening up his CD and saving money, he automatically was entered in the contest.
Save to Win is a program available in credit unions throughout Michigan with only six Grand Prizes of $10,000awarded across the state. “Save to Win” works by allowing the member to open a 12 month certificate of de-posit for only $25. That is the initial entry to the contest and each additional $25 is another entry.
Larry Miller has had an account with PSCU since 1966 and hasbeen a loyal member since. He first opened his “Save to Win”account about 4 years ago and has won several of the monthlyprizes (along with his wife) since.
When coming to the ceremony, Mr. Miller was under the impres-sion that he was one of 4 finalists to win the grand prize andwas surrounded by employees of PSCU acting as the other fi-nalists before they revealed the final surprise in front of boardmembers, employees, members and loved ones.
Residents can usethe device to dis-pose of unused, unwanted or ex-pired prescrip-tions and over-
the-counter medi-cations.
On hand for the unveiling were (from left) Romulus DrugTask Force members Rev. Bill Kren and Rev. Arthur Wil-lis, City Treasurer Stacy Paige, Middle School seventh-graders Kayla Leonard and Kayla Wood, RPD OfficeKeith Haynes, RMS prevention specialists Betty Santoand March Edwards, Mayor LeRoy D. The venture follows the overwhelming community re-sponse to the National Prescription Drug Take Back Dayhosted by the Romulus Rotary Club and Police Depart-ment last spring. Promoted by the DEA, the one-dayeffort collected three gallons of pills and capsules atthe police station.
Captain Joshua Monte said department representativeswere pleased to provide the permanent opportunity toassist in preventing pill abuse and theft by riddinghomes of potentially dangerous prescription drugs.
