Army (PA),
Kapag ginawa niya iyon

A breath of fresh air, sabi nga.
Watch out for this lady lawyer Leila De Lima she will goplaces at alam kong magiging kahanga-hanga siyang pub-lic servant.

GMA: Get Maguindanao witness killersPRESIDENT Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo
yesterday ordered police and the militaryto arrest the killers of the key witness in thegruesome Maguindanao massacre last year.
Deputy presidential spokesperson Prof.Gary Olivar said the Palace is outraged
by the latest development in the case againstthe Ampatuan clan.
We have directed our security forces totake all necessary measures to apprehendthe perpetrators, utilizing all the specialpowers available under the state of emer-gency that the president declared and con-tinues to maintain in the province. Olivarsaid.
It will be recalled that the President gaveher nod to the retention of the state of emer-gency in Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat andSouth Cotabato upon the recommendationof the defense officials and the DILG in thewake of the persistent threats of privatearmed groups in the region.
Olivar reacted to reports that key wit-ness, Suwaib Upham, in the trial of theAmpatuans has been shot dead.
Upham admitted to have taken part in
the killing of 57 people, including 31 jour-nalists on November 23, 2009. He claimedthat his former employers, the Ampatuans, planned the brutal killings.
Lawyer Harry Roque, on the other hand, said the killing of Upham last week inMaguindanao could potentially weaken thecase against the Ampatuan family.
Uphams death comes two months af-ter an uncle of another witness was alsoshot and killed, reportedly to silence andcow those who would speak out againstthe accused.
Meanwhile, the Department of Justicesaid they still have to validate and cross-
examine the test imonies of a supposednew witness, who is claiming he has in-side information on the massacre of 57people in Maguindanao province lastyear.
Assistant Chief State Prosecutor Rich-ard Fadullon said the DoJ could not imme-diately take and use someone as witnessas there is a need for validation to deter-mine his knowledge about the crime andhis motives. Ampie Galpo/Alex Balcoba

CELEBRATION of life, and not death, was how fans describe todayscommemoration of the first death anniversary of the only King of PopMichael Jackson.
Most fans moved on from grieving to reminiscing on Jacksonsmemoriesfond memories to be exact.
Erin Jacobs once traded her brand new bicycle for tickets tosee Michael Jackson. Now, more than 25 years later, it's hertime, organizational skills and gasmoney that she's giving to the Kingof Pop.
As an organizer of two major fangroups, Jacobs is just one of thou-sands of supporters keepingJackson's legacy alive along withthe pursuit of justice for his untimelydeath a year ago today.
Since then, the singer's notori-ously loyal followers have tradedvigils at the hospital and familyhome for pilgrimages to his tomband protests at the courthouse where
the doctor charged with killing Jackson will be tried. It's absolutely humbling that he has so much support from
fans, Jacobs said in a recent interview.A travel agent who lives in Yorba Linda, California, Jacobs
made her first 50-mile (80- kilometer) trip to the Forest Lawncemetery in Glendale, California, shortly after Jackson wasburied there in September. It was a personal trip.
These days, Jacobs has gone on to coordinate monthly pil-grimages to the cemetery by the Official Michael Jackson Fansof Southern California.
Hundreds are expected at Forest Lawn on the date Jack-
son passed away to commemorate Jackson's death. Thesingers tomb inside the cemeterys gothic Great Mauso-leum remains closed to the public, and Friday's memorialwon't change that.
But through the efforts of Jacobs and others, it's become aplace where Jacksons international fan base comes to grieve. Many who can't make it in person send letters, poems, art-work and other gifts so that Jacobs and others can deliver themto the cemetery, where they are placed at the singer's tombuntil new items arrive.
A year later, it feels like it was yesterday, Jacobs said.
Another focal point for Jackson fans has become the down-town Los Angeles courthouse where Dr. Conrad Murray will
AAThe le
be tried on an involuntary manslaughter charge for Jacksonsdeath.
On hearing days, fans wearing sequined gloves and T-shirtscalling for justice wait for hours clutching signs denouncing
Murray and shout at him for the briefmoments it takes him to walk fromthe curb to the front door.
Johnell Johnson, 19, an actressfrom Fontana, California, woke upat 4:30 a.m. to get to the courthousein time for a recent midday hearingin Murray's case. Wearing a vintagepin from Jacksons Bad era, Johnson said it was important forher to be there to support Jacksonsfamily.
It's a sentiment echoed by manyothers who try to attend the pro-
ceedings. Only a handful of people are allowed into the court-room, but others are content to shout their support to Jackson'sparents and siblings, who occasionally stop to hug or speak tofans. At the hearing earlier this month, the singer's mother,Katherine, carried roses that fanshanded her.
Fans at the cemetery Fridayhope to bring more than 3,000roses, Jacobs said, although offi-cials don't want the memorial toinclude the release of doves or bal-
loons, as was originally planned.None of this fan passion is re-
ally new. Jackson's supportershave long been among the mostdevoted and vocal of anyentertainer's in recent memory.More than 1,200 people were out-side the Santa Maria, California, courthouse in 2005 when thesinger was acquitted of all countsin a child-molestation trial. Last
year thousands flocked to the hos-pital where Jackson was pro-

Friday's anniversary is ostensibly a fan
affair the singer's estate, which con-trols Jackson's music and likeness hasnot sanctioned anyevents, and whilesome family mem- bers have thrownsupport behind apaid gala in BeverlyHills, California, onSaturday night, there hasn't been a
formal family an-nouncement of trib-ute.
Several of thosewho protested out-side the courthouseJune 14 were planninga variety of events, from the staging ofa massive Thrillertribute to a rally seek-
ing justice plannedfor downtown Los
Angeles on June 26.Taaj Malik, who is organizing the rally
and maintains several fan groups on
Facebook, was among the first fans to ar-rive outside the singers rented mansionwhen news of hish o s p i t a l i z a t i o nbroke. She recalledrecently that she hadtears in her eyes asshe traveled the 50miles from neighbor-ing Orange County.
A Jackson fan since
her childhood inBritain, Malik saidshe prefers to focuson gaining justice for Jackson than on hergrief. I've ignoredit, said Malik, whoalong with Jacobs isa member of thegroup Justice 4 MJ.I've blocked it. I
refuse to let it comein to me.
New Jackson video gameMICHAEL JACKSON fans will be able
to moonwalk next to the King of Pop in anew video game to be released this holi-day season by Ubisoft Entertainment.
The as-yet-unnamed game will beamong the first to use new motion-detect-ing camera systems to be available laterthis year for Microsoft's Xbox 360 andSony's PlayStation 3. The announcementwas made Monday at the E3 video gameshow in Los Angeles.
The game will also work with hand-heldcontrollers on Nintendo's Wii and on thesmaller Nintendo DS and PSP portable
console from Sony.* * *Michael Jackson had dozens of hits,
but his most popular one wasn't a solosmash or a tune with his brothers. It wasa song with another icon.
Billboard says Say Say Say, his 1983hit with Paul McCartney, is the most popu-lar Jackson song. That was followed byBillie Jean, the Jackson 5s I'll BeThere, Beat It and Rock with You.
Billie Jean was at No. 1 for sevenweeks, while Say Say Say held the top
spot for six weeks. But the McCartney-Jackson hit stayed in the top 10 longer.

IT happens like clock-work. Every year, kids andparents dont just have to
contend with the stress ofschool opening, they alsohave to brace themselvesfor an infestation of themost embarrassing kindhead lice.
Often, exposure toschool activities and the in-creased interaction withclassmates raise the like-l ihood of Pediculosis orhead lice infestation. In fact,a research study conductedin 2006 by the global re-
search firm GfK NOP re-vealed that 59 percent ofPhilippine households suf-fer from head lice.
While 34 percent of el-ementary school children inpublic schools are infected,Mrs. Zeny Soriano, Re-search & Development Con-sultant of Lamoiyan Corp.,makers of Hapee Tooth-paste and Licealiz Sham-poo, says that incidents ofhead lice in suspicion are
as bad as when we go topublic schools. She warns,Everybody is susceptible
What to do when kuto epidemic hits your childs schoolregardless of age and socio-economic class.
The best way to prevent
kuto from spreading is toteach kids the basics ofgood grooming and hygiene.Children wil l learn to becautious in sharing theirpersonal items, like combs, brushes, headbands, hairclips, pony ties, capsand towels, with their class-mates if theyre taught todo the same at home. Kidslearn by example so its bestif they see Mom, Dad, Ateor Kuya using their own
brushes and towels. Teachthem to be extra cautiousin sharing personal groom-ing items as they are theeasiest way for bacteria andother harmful externalitiesto spread.
If possible, keep yourchildrens hair short. If not,tie their hair neatly in a bun, ponytail or pigtails. DuringP.E. or recess in school, theywill have less hair flying aroundwhen they play with their
schoolmates. This will reducethe likelihood of your child tobe infested by head lice.
When you see your childfrequently scratching his orher head, immediately
check for lice or lice eggs, also called nits or lisa. Liceare wingless, typically flat-bodied insects with seg-mented antennae, modifiedmouth parts, and has sixshort legs with claws. Theseclaws pierce the skin. Themouth parts suck the bloodwhile secreting saliva, which intensifies itching.Nits or lisa, on the otherhand are attached to humanhair through specialized
saliva. Nits are typicallypale or white in color; if thenit appears brown, it isdead.
At the first sign of nitsor kuto on your childs hair, immediately apply a head-l ice treatment shampoo;preferably one made fromnatural ingredients.Lamoiyans Licealiz Sham-poo contains the active in-gredient Pyrethrin; naturallyderived from Chrysanthe-
mum flower extracts. De-partment of Education(DepEd) and the Philippine
Dermatological Societysources endorse Pyrethin assafe and reliable in remov-

Pyrethin-formulated LicealizShampoo is safe and effec-tive even for use of childrenas young as six years. Itis applied on the hair like aregular shampoo. For bestresults leave it on the hairfor ten minutes before rins-ing. If your kids have headlice, the recommended ap-plication is twice a week fortwo weeks. To prevent head
lice from reoccurring, sim-ply use it once a week.Unlike other head l ice
treatment shampoos,Licealiz contains a hair con-ditioning formulation thatkeeps hair soft and healthyafter use. Licealiz has alsobeen made more affordable. It is priced up to 50 percentlower than other brands toensure you can continuewith the preventive follow-up treatment. It is also avail-

Metro traffic accidentsdown by 18 percent
THE number of trafficaccidents in Metro Manilahas gone down signifi-cantly during the first fivemonths of the year, accord-ing to the Road Safety Unit(RSU) of the MetropolitanManila Development Au-thority (MMDA).
Reports generated bythe Metro Manila AccidentReporting and AnalysisSystem (MMARAS)showed a decrease of al-most 18 percent in thenumber of road accidentsfor the period January to
May. This year the re-corded accidents were20,151 compared to lastyears 24,417. Motorcycle-related traffic accidents
have the highest rate.As with the case last
year, most of the accidentshappened in QuezonCity followed by Manila. Pateros posted the leastnumber of accidents.
The figures can be at-tributed to several factors.Quezon City has the big-gest land area in MetroManila and three out ofthe seven major roadssuch as Epifanio DelosSantos Avenue (EDSA),Commonwealth Avenue, and Quezon Avenue are

This was the revelation made by budget undersecretary LauraPascua during a Palace briefingyesterday citing the implementationof Executive Order (EO 366) or ra-tionalization of government agen-cies as among the biggest factor inthe government savings.
Pascua said the approval of the rationalization plan of 76 gov-
ernment agencies resulted in theabolition of 11,256 positions ofwhich 5,930 were funded posi-tions.
According to the budget official,94 more rationalization plans of de-
partments, agencies or government-owned and -controlled corporationsare still being evaluated by the De-partment of Budget and Manage-ment (DBM).
She stressed that the govern-ment has paid P1.2 billion in ben-efits and incentives saying ben-efits paid were recouped withinthe year.
Pascua expressed hopes that theAquino administration wouldcontinue implementing the ratio-nalization program.
EO 366, entitled "Directing aStrategic Review of the Operations
and Organizations of ExecutiveBranch and Providing Optionsand Incentives for GovernmentEmployees Who May Be Affectedby the Rationalization of the Func-tions and Agencies of the Execu-tive Branch," aims to promote ef-fectiveness, efficiency, afforda- bility and transparency in gov-ernment service. of Teachers (ASERT) hasasked Education Secre-tary Mona Valisno togive them definite dateas to when they wouldreceive their honorariaon the recently con-cluded national census.
The group claimedthat each teacher whohelped conduct thecensus, which endedlast June 11, should getP11,500 but it seemedthey are barking at thewrong tree.
The Department ofEducation (DepEd)said the teachers whoparticipated in the lastcensus should bringup their concern to theNational Statistics Of-fice (NSO) since it wasthe agency that con-tracted them for thecensus and are like-wise responsible for re-leasing their compen-sation.
But DepEd Under-

Our Daily BreadOur Daily BreadOur Daily BreadOur Daily BreadOur Daily BreadThe film Miracle tells the true story of the
1980 US Olympic ice hockey team as it marchesto an improbable gold medal. At the outset of the
story, coach Herb Brooks is shown selecting theplayers for his team. When he gives assistantcoach Craig Patrick a list of names he has cho-sen, Craig says in surprise, Youre missing someof the best players. Brooks responds, Im notlooking for the best players, Craigjust the rightones.
Brooks knew that individual talent would takethe team only so far. A willingness to fit into hisstyle of selfless play would be far more impor-tant than talent. Clearly, team success, not indi-vidual glory, was the priority.
The biblical call to service has a similar em-phasis. In Gods purposes, each believer does hisor her part, but the results are team-oriented. After
explaining the wide differences in the spiritual giftsof believers, Paul says, the manifestation of theSpirit is given to each one for the profit of all (1 Cor.12:7). When we use the skills God gives us, Hispurposes are accomplished, and He gets the glory. In Gods service, its not about being the best, themost talented, or the most gifted. Its about beingthe right peoplethe ones God set . . . in the body(v.18)joining together to serve the same team.
Christ builds His church with differentstones
And makes each one secure; All shapes and sizes fit in place
To make His church endure. Anon.
There are no unimportant people in the bodyof Christ.
