Don’t sacrifice style when you swap four wheels for two this summer. Choose from Gallant Bicycles’ locally assembled, powder-coated frames, then pick your speeds: Opt for one of the internal Nexus hubs for low-maintenance, rust-free gears. Saddle up with a range of seats (in-cluding holy-grail Brooks models) and tweak your ride with a variety of accessories – even windshields are on offer. Jason Wood and Tony Mammoliti set up shop to offer a budget-friendly alternative to total-ly bespoke bikes. Whether you gear up online or test drive the models in person, it’s a two-week turnaround for a head-turning customized ride.

Balancing colours, varying textures, playing with volume… Caroline Boyce, a florist at Floralia and a fine-arts graduate, uses visual-arts lan-guage when talking about designing bouquets. But you don’t have to be an artist to take one of her flower- arranging courses; you just need an eye for floral fashion. In June freshly bloomed peonies from her organic garden in Hemmingford, Quebec, take centre stage. Following a brief introduction on growing and caring for flowers, Caroline demonstrates how to create simple and natural bouquets using a clever combina-tion of delicate flowers and more
rustic foliage. Then it’s the students’ turn to create their own arrange-ments. “There’s no such thing as a mistake,” she says. “Everything can be fixed.” You leave the workshop blooming with pride over your work of art.
5 2 3 5 , B O U L . Where to take a break around town.L’échappée belle dans le coin.
It can be tough to entice kids to a museum with no bat cave or amaz-ing aging machine. But the Aga Khan Museum is worth the visit for the whole family. Inaugurated last fall by His Highness the Aga Khan, the phenomenal new insti-tution was designed by Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki, a Pritzker Architecture Prize laureate. While you amble through the bright, cathedral-ceilinged galleries filled with ceramics, tiles, calligraphy and exquisite hand-decorated Qu’rans from the Islamic world, the muse-um’s Family Exploration Kit (free with admission and available daily) has everything you need to keep
the kids busy. It includes a magni-fying glass, origami, pencils, string, pipe cleaners and a scavenger hunt for fantastical creatures. Weekend bonus: On Sunday afternoons, kids aged five to 12 can also play games, solve puzzles and create an animal mask in the museum’s ed-ucation centre.
7 7 W Y N F O R D D R . , A G A K H A N M U S E U M . 01 SHOPGIRLSI wear Canadian almost every day, and Shopgirls’ buyer, Michelle Germain, only carries Canadian labels. A lot of them are local, like John & Jenn, a division of Line Knitwear, which came through TFI years ago. There are so few of these shops left in the city – maybe even in the country. 1 3 4 2 Q U E E N S T . W . , S H O P G I R L S . C A

03 BAR BUCAI love this industrial-chic eatery. It’s a great brunch spot, but it’s tiny and popular, so you have to get there early; it opens at 7 a.m. The best thing on the menu is the Gran Fritto Misto two-tiered tasting platter. It’s real-ly yummy. , B U C A . C A
04 PATRIAThis restaurant serves delicious, classic Spanish tapas to share with friends. The leek-and-Manchego croquettes are to die for – they melt in your mouth – as is the seafood paella, though you should only order it if there’s four or more of you. 4 7 8 K I N G S T . He and his staff are so warm and inviting; there’s nothing snooty about them. , S A L O N D A N I E L . C A
06 ONE KING WESTWe hold our annual New Labels fundraiser (it takes place on May 4) at this lovely boutique hotel. It’s a historic building from the mid-1800s that used to house the Dominion Bank of Canada. You can have cocktails in the old vault. Sipping your drink while sitting behind bars, you’ll feel like Bonnie and Clyde. 1 K I N G S T . W . , O N E K I N G W E S T . C O M

601 CAFÉ LE PETIT FLOREI know it’s supposed to feel like Paris, but this café near our old training centre reminds me of Copenhagen. Everything is in wood and has that rustic European feel. It’s a nice place to get an espresso. , 5 1 4 - 3 8 7 - 2 6 4 0 , L E P E T I T F L O R E . C O M

03 LE VIEUX-PORTThe Old Port reminds me of when my wife and I had time to hang out at cafés and walk around in Europe. It comes alive in summer; there are artists painting, the terrasses are full and you can ride a bike by the water. , 5 1 4 - 4 9 6 - 7 6 7 8 , V I E U X P O R T D E M O N T R E A L . 04 ARITMETIKSoccer brings you to a lot of places, and when you fly, you need comfort as well as style. I go here to see what’s new and trending. Jogger jeans are especially good for travel because there’s no belt to remove at se-curity. En voyage, un jogging en denim, sans ceinture à retirer à la sécurité, c’est l’idéal.1 4 5 5 , R U E P E E L , 5 1 4 - 2 8 6 - 0 5 6 5 , A R I T M E T I K S . 05 PUB BURGUNDY LIONCo-owner Paul Desbaillets is a big soccer fan, and his place always has good energy during games. I like to catch a game, have a chat and get a bite to eat – and I don’t even drink beer! The food is the draw; they have more selection than your typical pub menu, so I try something different every time. 2 4 9 6 , R U E N O T R E - D A M E O . , 5 1 4 - 9 3 4 - 0 8 8 8 , B U R G U N D Y L I O N . 06 PARK RESTAURANTI like sushi a lot. What makes Antonio Park different is that he’s very meticulous about the freshness of his fish and where it comes from. I’m a fan of the Suzuki on grilled kombu with Chinook King salmon. And Park’s a fan of the Impact too. V I C T O R I A , 5 1 4 - 7 5 0 - 7 5 3 4 , P A R K R E S T O . C O M

The facts are the facts. And they tell a powerful story.
Montreal-Trudeau is leading the way as a top choice for North Atlantic routes. And with six brand-new international
gates on track for 2016, our world-class service is only getting better.
With facts like these, it’s easy to see why Montreal is the ideal destination.

C O MDeath and the Maiden, by German choreographer Stephan Thoss, was in-spired by Franz Schubert’s famous score for string quartet. The ballet, an original creation that tells the tale of the abduction of Kore by the god of the un-derworld, is a reflection on youth, aging and the pas-sage of time.

At Toronto’s first outpost of the Vancouver-bred company, run by Shannon and JJ Wilson (the wife and son of Chip Wilson, founder of Lululemon), the interior is minimalist, allowing the brand’s under-stated yet luxurious pieces to shine. Tees, chinos and other slim-fit casual wear, all made out of Technical Cashmere – a machine-washable version of the real thing – come in a cool, crisp palette of greys, blues, blacks and whites.
