A monthly publication of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church
Our guest speaker, Jason McLeod, played the
part of Brock Kelley in the movie Facing the
Giants. He also had a part in the movie Fire-
proof. Jason has a unique gift of connecting
with audiences of all ages and hopes to point
people to a real and authentic relationship with
Jesus Christ through biblical teaching. He is
currently a youth pastor in South Carolina.

A DAY FOR
THE ENTIRE FAMILY
Observed during both morning
services on October 4th.
A benevolence offering will be
taken at the end of the service.

Happy October, Pilgrim Rest family.
September was a wonderful month for
our church and it was great to see God
move during our revival services. We
saw many people come to Christ and
others recommit their lives to Christ.
With that said we must continue to press
forward by sharing our faith, inviting
people to accept Christ and inviting people to attend church with us.
Another meaningful event we saw in September was the completion
of our parking lot. This may seem insignificant but it serves as another
indicator we are inching closer to a completed building project. Exciting
days are in store for our church. Continue to remain steadfast in prayer.
To God be the glory!
Grace and Peace.
Bro. Geoff
October Theme:
We will be learning about
INDIVIDUALITY. God is the
only god. God is one of a kind
with no beginning and no end.
And everything God has created
is unique and one of a kind,
including people. We have unique
personalities, gifts and talents.
And, we need to discover how
God wants us to use these to
make a difference in the world.
Our theme verse will be: “Don’t let anyone look down on
you because you are young. Set an
example for the believers in what
you say and in how you live.”
I Timothy 4:12a (NIrV)

Dear Church, you will never know how much I appreciated your love, your visits, your prayers during my sickness! I love you all so very much. You have been there for me and been my brothers & sisters in Christ since I moved here when I was 16 years old. I felt your prayers, and I know that GOD did a miracle in my life! I will never cease to praise HIS name! May God con-tinue to bless each of you and bless our church as we go forward telling others about Jesus’ love! Sandy Adams
During the bereavement of the passing of my husband, Sanford Carver, I wish to thank you my church family & friends. To each and every one who cooked and brought food, thank you. To the fellowship team, men & women, who organized, served and cleaned up after the family meal, you were amazing. I am so thank-ful & proud of my church. I thank you so much for your prayers, and please continue to pray. I will forever be grateful. All of you touched many lives during this time. Jollie Carver

Starbucks Pumpkin Scones
Copycat Recipe
(Yield 8 scones)
Ingredients:
2 C. all-purpose flour
1/3 C. brown sugar, packed
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 C. (1 stick) unsalted butter,
cut into cubes
1/2 C. pumpkin puree
3 Tbsp. milk
1 large egg
2 tsp. vanilla extract
Glaze:
1 C. confectioners’ sugar
2 Tbsp. milk
Spiced Glaze:
1 C. confectioners’ sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp. ground ginger
Pinch of nutmeg
2 Tbsp. milk
Instructions:
• Preheat oven to 400° F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
or a silicone baking mat; set aside.
• In large bowl combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder,
cloves, ginger, nutmeg, baking soda and salt. Add cold butter, using
your fingers to work the butter into the dry ingredients until it re-
sembles coarse crumbs.
•In large glass measuring cup or another bowl, whisk together
pumpkin puree, milk, egg and vanilla. Pour mixture over dry ingre-
dients and stir using a rubber spatula until a soft dough forms.
• Working on a lightly floured surface, knead the dough 3-4 times
until it comes together. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough into a 10-
by 7-inch rectangle, about 1-inch thick. Using a large knife or a
pizza cutter, cut the rectangle in half lengthwise, then cut into 2 even
pieces crosswise, making four rectangles. Then cut each rectangle
into two triangles, making 8 triangles.
• Place scones onto prepared baking sheet. Place into oven and bake
for 10-12 minutes, or until a tester inserted in the center comes out
clean.
• To make the glaze, combine confectioners’ sugar and milk. Whisk
until smooth. If the glaze is too thick, add more milk as needed; set
aside. To make the spiced glaze, combine confectioners’ sugar,
spices and milk. Whisk until smooth; set aside.
• When the scones are done, cool for 10 minutes and spoon the glaze
on each scone. Let that glaze firm up a little before drizzling with
spiced glaze.
• Allow glazes to set before serving.
