Equatorial climate

Tº: high (around 25ºC)

PP: heavy and regular rainfall (around 2000 mm)

Rivers: high, regular flowVegetation: lush with a lot of species. Jungle.

South America and Africa inhabitants: fruit, hunting animals and basic farmingAsia inhabitants: plantations (rice, sugar canne, tea…)

Tropical climate

Tº: high all year (around 25ºC)

PP: two seasons: rainny season (summer) and dry season (winter)

Rivers: flow depends on the season (rise in the rainny season and dry in the dry season).Vegetation: savannas

Inhabitants: livestock, agriculture (crop rotation and plantations)

Desert climate

Tº: very high during day and cold during night

PP: light and irregular

No rivers and no vegetation, only wadis (ramblas)

Inhabitants: pastoral nomads and settlements in oasis.

Polar climate

Tº: very low (between 0 and -40ºC).

PP: low and in form of snow.

No rivers and vegetation only in the warmest months, called tundra (mosses, lichens and small flowers).

Inhabitants: Eskimos in North America and Sami in Northern Scandinavia. Hunting and fishing.

Mountain climate

Tº: very low

PP: heavy but decreases as altitude increases. Form of snow.

Rivers: high flow in summer, dry in winter.Vegetation: change in stages with altitude.

Inhabitants: livestock, farming, log forests and tourists.

Oceanic climate

Tº: mild

PP: light and regular

Rivers: high, regular flowVegetation: meadows, deciduous forests, moors…

Inhabitants: in Western Europe forests have been cut down. Still many in America.

Continental climate

Tº: extreme (cold winters, hot summers)

PP: escarce

Rivers: high flow (a lot of tributaries)Vegetation: taiga, steppe and prairies

Inhabitants: taiga to make cellulose. Steppes for livestock and cereals.

Mediterranean climate

Tº: hot summers, mild winters.

PP: no rain in summer, autumn the rainiest season.

Rivers: low, irregular flow. Floods.Vegetation: evergreen forests, shrubland (maquis, garrigue)

Inhabitants: cereals, grapes, olives. Irrigates farming (fruits and vegetables). Greenhouses.
