Also on the ground floor is a triple aspect sitting room with a fireplace and the combined kitchen and breakfast room has been stylishly fitted. There are cream panelled units with granite surfaces and as a centrepiece is a hardwood topped island unit. The bedrooms can be found off galleried landings and include, on the first floor, a wonderful master

Great chance to own your very first homePERSIMMON Homes South Midlands is urging members of the Armed Forces to register their interest in the Governments FirstBuy initiative. This follows the announcement that military personnel have been given top priority for housing help and will be among the first to benefit from the scheme. With a few weeks to go until the FirstBuy allocations are made public, first-time buyers wanting to take advantage of the scheme are being reminded that they need to register their interest now in order to avoid disappointment. More than 2,000 prospective buyers have already registered their interest in the scheme at persimmonhomes.com/firstbuy. Alison Reading, sales director for Persimmon Homes South Midlands, said: Its important that we pull out all the stops to give our brave Armed Forces a helping hand onto the property ladder and its only right that they are at the top of the list to receive funding. However, in addition to military personnel, FirstBuy has been developed to assist a whole host of groups including existing social tenants and other first-time buyers. Its crucial that any aspiring home owner who feels they could benefit from the scheme registers their interest immediately on our website to avoid missing out. FirstBuy, which was announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer in his March budget, is aimed at helping first time buyers onto the property ladder with a smaller mortgage deposit. It is similar to the previous Governments HomeBuy Direct

It had 20 per cent of all applicable plots in the country and it helped more than 2,000 purchasers to buy their first home. FirstBuy is expected to help 10,000 families get onto the property ladder and for buyers who do not meet its specific requirements Persimmon Homes has its own shared equity scheme. Houses can also be bought throughits Kickstart II initiative.

Weve been selling for 75 yearsAWARD-winning estate agency Connells is celebrating 75 years in business this year. After opening its first branch in Luton in 1936, the company has become one of the largest and most successful estate agency networks in Britain. It now has more than 150 branches nationwide and is consistently voted the best large agency at the annual Estate Agency of the Year Awards. Carole Bradley, branch manager for Connells in Foregate Street, Worcester, said: Although Connells has come a long way since its first branch opening, the company built its success on providing consistently high levels of customer service and this ethos still stands today. Here in Worcester we are very proud to be part of such a successful and well-established agency such as Connells. Seventy five years in business is a great achievement and testimony to the fantastic service and people we have employed throughout the years. Since 1936, Connells has developed from a single estate agency branch to a large corporate company offering a spectrum of property-related services including mortgage services, home conveyancing, asset management and surveying, to name a few. Interestingly, the comapnys chief executive Stuart Flavell, its group chief executive David Livesey and its group chairman Stephen Shipperley, have served 75 years at Connells between them. Ms Bradley said: Im sure when Larry Connell opened the doors of the first Connells branch, he could not have known how large and successful the estate agency would become. Today, we are helping more home buyers and sellers find and secure their dream property than ever before.

Painting of stagecoach is expected to make 4,000A 19th century oil painting of the Birmingham to Kidderminster stagecoach, the Invincible, is expected to sell for up to 4,000 when it goes under the hammer in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, later this month. The painting, which will be one of the lots in Halls auction of fine paintings, silver and jewellery at its Welsh Bridge saleroom on June 29, is by an unknown English artist. Owned by Godfrey and Co, the stagecoach ran from Swan Hotel in Birmingham to the Lion Hotel in Kidderminster. The Lion Hotel, which closed in 1963, was once Kidderminsters most important inn, situated at the top of High Street. The 16th century building was owned by the lords of the manor, the Foleys and the earls of Dudley. The pair raced side by side for the last circuit but Eremon managed to pull away to win the race by six lengths.
