This free newsletter has been compiled by a group of volunteers who are keen to share the great stuff that happens in our community. What A Wonderful Place We are delighted to see that 8 years of work & preparation have come together on phase one of St Marks refurb project. With the new carpets being laid this week. The church is looking fabulous. Thank you to everyone for their support and donations towards this project over the last few years. WOODLEY PANTRY AT THE ARTHUR GREENWOOD CENTRE Woodley Pantry is a community group, supported by Stockport Homes for people in Woodley. For £3.50 a week members have access to affordable food. If you would like to become a member or you are interested in volunteering, visit our website at: www.yourlocalpantry.co.uk/woodley or drop in to see us at the Arthur Greenwood Centre on Hipley Close on Tuesdays 3.30pm - 5.30pm and Wednesday 10am - 12noon. PANKCAKE DAY EVENT AT THE PANTRY There will be a small pancake day event from 4-5pm on Tuesday 25th February at the Arthur Greenwokd Centre. Open to pantry members and local people. Brew and pancake combo will cost 60p. Feel free to drop in and find out more about the pantry.

Wednesdays in term time 1.15 – 2.45pm in the church hall.

Our toddler group welcomes babies and preschoolchildren and their parents/grandparents/carers.

We aim to provide a safe, stimulating play environmentwithin a community of Christian love and fellowship. Ourvolunteers help with the children’s activities and offer alistening ear to the adults.

A variety of toys, play equipment and activities areavailable and we provide drinks and snacks for childrenand adults. We usually finish with a singing session

CommuniTea: Story Time

Viaduct Care along with Start Point Coffee Shop &Alvanley Family Practice will be starting a monthly cancersupport group on 11th February from 2pm.

If you or a family member have been affected by cancerand you would like a chat, just pop in. Refreshments willbe available for you to pay whatever you can as we knowthat cancer can be tough on your finances as well aseverything this else.

CommuniTea: CancerSupport

Start Point coffee shop have started a new set offree activities called CommuniTea. The aim is to bring localpeople together around a cup of tea. There will be moreinformation about other CommuniTea events later in thenewsletter. The first CommuniTea is a monthly story time. The next dates are:26th March 11am - 12noon23rd April 11am - 12noon

No booking required, just turn up.

Do you fancy getting out and about and meeting newpeople? Alvanley Patient Champions host a WednesdayWander each week starting outside Woodley Healthcentre at 12noon. You dont need to be a patient to join in.It is a gentle stroll finishing at the coffee shop at 1pm. Feelfree to join us to feel the benefits of getting out more.

You can help by either donating food or funds to the FoodBank, or by helping out at the Food Bank on a Tuesday (12:30-2:30pm). We really value any contribution you make – yourtime and skills could be just what we need.

Musical Memories Breakfast Club, Trift Shop& Cafe

Rock Soild meets every Monday evening during term time,6:30pm until 7:30pm in the church hall, and is for kids aged7 upwards.Les and Debbie Cope, together with a team of committedvolunteers, lead these evenings. The main aim behind RockSolid is to have lots of fun! Most evenings we play computergames, board games, table football, pool, table tennis, docraft, eat hot dogs and ice cream, and loads more! So ifyou’re aged 7 and upwards, come along and join in the fun!

Rock SolidThe first Concert will see the return of renowned OrganistNigel Ogden who will make areturn visit on Friday 27th March 2020 @ 7.30pm at WoodleyMethodist Hall.

Woodley Methodist church café and thrift shop is open onWednesdays and Saturdays between 9.30 and 12 noon wherethe volunteers are pleased to serve you a variety of hot drinksand cakes (many of which are home made and delicious!)

Our thrift shop is full of previously used goods donated by thelocal community. Our volunteers are happy to help you find agood book, jumper or trinket to brighten your home. Theylove to listen to people as they come into the shop. We hopeyou find this an agreeable shopping experience each time youcome.

Breakfast club has been running for 6 years, every last Sundayof the month at Woodley Methodist Church, 8.30am until10am. You may have seen our banner displaying a cookedbreakfast and all are welcome. Our menu is egg, bacon,beans, tomatoes, toast, tea and coffee. It would be lovely tosee you soon.

Church Pastoral Worker Sue Skidmore can often be found atthe café. Sue loves to meet people and have the opportunityfor a chat, to hear how you are doing over a cup of tea or inthe small sanctuary next to the café. If Sue isn’t there and youwould like a chat she can be contacted on 07483296043
