With a loud karate yell, ChiChi sent a sharp karate kick to a tall oak tree. The tree spilt in half and fell to the

ground with a large thud. ChiChi was impressed with her handy work. She looked to her father who watched

    proudly. "How was that, Dad?"

"!cellent work, ChiChi," ! #ing said proudly to his daughter. "$ou%&e 'ecome a great fighter. $ou%re

    e&en stronger than me."

ChiChi smiled at the compliment. "Thanks, Dad. ( think (%m strong enough to enter the )artial *rtsTournament. (%m sure (%m e+ual if not stronger than oku. ( know he will 'e there."

    ! #ing laughed -oyfully. "oku%s a &ery strong 'oy indeed. He%s pro'a'ly e&en stronger now since it had to

ha&e 'een him who had 'eaten #ing iccolo. Howe&er," ! #ing said cautiously, "( don%t want you to enter

    the tournament."

ChiChi frowned. "Why can%t (, Dad?"

"$ou%re strong, dear, 'ut there will 'e a lot of people there and ( don%t want you to get hurt. ( trained you so

you can protect your family, not fight in a tournament."

"( can take on anyone at the tournament," ChiChi said confidently. "/esides, my family isat the tournament,

Dad. oku%s gonna 'e there. ( ha&e to find and tell him that it%s time we marry."

"/ut, ChiChi, oku said he will come 'ack."

"Dad, that was si! years ago. Who knows how long it will 'e 'efore he decides to come 'ack. ( -ust want to

    remind him of his promise."

"$ou think he has forgotten?" ! #ing asked.

"f course not," ChiChi said defiantly. "oku lo&es me. He wants to marry me. He -ust might not know

    when the right time is."

! #ing frowned at his daughter. She was making e!cuses for oku that didn%t make any sense. "ChiChi,

you know ( want the 'est for you, 'ut do you think it%s possi'le oku has forgotten a'out you? therwise,

wouldn%t he ha&e showed up 'y now? $ou are of age to marry." He saw his daughter glare at him angrily, not

liking what he was implying. "( know you lo&e oku, sweetheart, 'ut 'efore ( allow any man to marry you, (

want to know that he does lo&e you and that he will take care of you. $ou%re my little girl. ( want the 'est for

    you."

ChiChi sighed sadly 'ut smiled thoughtfully at her father. "( know, Dad, 'ut oku doeslo&e me. He will take

    care of me."

"Then where is he?" a new &oice spoke as he approached father and daughter.

ChiChi frowned seeing Takashi appear. He was a young, prominent man in the &illage, only fi&e years older

than ChiChi. He was &ery strong and handsome according to all the single women in the &illage, and for a

while ChiChi noticed he had taken an interest in her. Se&eral times, Takashi came to her home to court her,'ut ChiChi always turned him down, telling him she was taken 'y oku.

"Takashi0" ! #ing smiled at the young man. "What 'rings you here?"

"(%&e come to see how our king and his daughter are doing." He approached ChiChi, took her hand and

'owed courteously 'efore planting a soft kiss on her hand. ")y lady."

ChiChi smoothly pulled her hand away. "Hello, Takashi."

    ")y daughter and ( were ha&ing a con&ersation a'out the )artial *rts Tournament that%s coming up."

Takashi stared at ChiChi with a friendly surprised e!pression. "h? (s our princess participating?"

"$es, ( am," ChiChi spoke confidently e&en though her father was not for this. "(%m going to remind oku

that it%s time for our wedding."

Takashi grimaced at the thought. The last thing he wanted was ChiChi to marry the man she had a childish

crush on all those years ago. "Will he remem'er you?" he asked mockingly. "(t%s 'een a long time. He might

    ha&e forgotten a'out you, rincess."

ChiChi did not appro&e of how Takashi spoke of oku. "oku hasn%t forgotten a'out me0" ChiChi yelled."*nd ( will pro&e it 'y going to the tournament0"

"$ou will not compete in the tournament, ChiChi" ! #ing ordered.

"/ut, Dad11" ChiChi was silenced when her father raised his hand.

"There is another reason ( do not want you going to the tournament. #ing iccolo hired minions to kill off

anyone who was a martial artist. Don%t you remem'er they were after me?"

ChiChi remem'ered all right. She ran with her father to safety from his assassins. They fought the killers off

as 'est they could, 'ut it wasn%t enough. ChiChi thought she would lose her father that day, 'ut then oku,

her sweet angel, came to sa&e him. "( remem'er, Dad, and ( also remem'er oku coming to your rescue."

"He did, and what if another maniac imitates #ing iccolo and goes after the martial artists again?" ! #ing

asked. He was serious a'out this topic and wasn%t going to risk losing his daughter due to martial arts. "(f you

go to the tournament to fight, you will e!pose yourself to that threat. ( will not allow my only daughter to

    compete."

"How else will ( see oku unless ( compete?" ChiChi argued. "The tournament committee won%t let anyone

who isn%t a fighter in the fighting area and the tournaments are always crowded. Competing is my onlychance of seeing oku again."

"(%m sorry, ChiChi, 'ut if oku lo&es you and really wants to marry you, then he will come for you. 2ust 'e

patient." ! #ing was stern with his words and his final word was law and ChiChi would ha&e to o'ey.

ChiChi was aghast 'y her father%s actions. How could he do such a thing to her? "This isn%t fair00" ChiChi

    yelled.

"3air or not, it is my decree upon you." ! #ing wasn%t changing his on the topic.

ChiChi let out an aggra&ated growl and stormed off into the castle.

"That girl certainly has a temper," ! #ing remarked, watching his daughter march off. "She gets it from

    her mother."

Takashi nodded in agreement. "(%m sure she does." He looked to the giant man. "/ut it doesn%t change how (

feel for her," he spoke sincerely. "She%s &ery 'eautiful, caring and will make me a great wife. (%&e come to ask

for her hand again. ( was hoping ChiChi would reconsider."

"That%s &ery no'le and kind of you to come to me, Takashi, 'ut ChiChi has made it &ery clear she wants to

    marry oku."

"/ut he may ne&er come for her," Takashi said. "ChiChi%s li&ing a hopeless dream of 'eing with this oku. (

already ha&e a home and ( make a good li&ing. ( can take &ery good care of ChiChi."

"ChiChi also wants a strong hus'and and if memory ser&es me right, she defeated you +uite easily."

Takashi kept himself from rolling his eyes. ChiChi was a tough and strong fighter. 3or crying out loud, she

was the daughter of the great ! #ing11one of the few men who recei&ed training from the great )aster

4oshi11a legend in martial arts. f course his daughter going under the same training as her father would 'e

    stronger.

"(t doesn%t matter. ( canpro&ide for her," Takashi countered. "( can ensure her protection."

With money ! king thought. "True, 'ut ( want my daughter to 'e happy and (%ll allow her to marry the

man she wants if he lo&es her, pro&ides and takes good care of her. That%s all ( want for ChiChi."

! #ing looked in the direction of his daughter%s room in one of the towers. He hated to admit to himself 'ut

his daughter was growing up and wasn%t depending on him as much as she was when she was a little girl. (t

was time for him to let his daughter go and marry 'ut he wanted it to 'e with the right man. He wanted the'est for his precious daughter e&en if she may not know it. "/ut it doesn%t seem as if oku will e&er return

and pro&e he is worthy of ChiChi and my daughter has high hopes he will."

Takashi folded his arms disappro&ingly. %5ot if ( ha&e anything to do with it.%

    ! #ing sighed hea&ily making Takashi take noticed of the king%s &isage. He looked &ery unhappy. "/ut (

ha&e 'een fearing what you are thinking, Takashi11that oku has forgotten a'out ChiChi and ( don%t want

her heart 'roken. (f she goes to this tournament, she might 'e setting herself up for disappointment."

! #ing turned his attention to Takashi. "$ou are a good man6patient, too and ( 'elie&e you will take good

care of my daughter if oku can%t."

Takashi smiled hopefully. "Does this mean ( ha&e her hand?"

    "(f oku doesn%t li&e up to the e!pectations ( want for a son1in1law, then yes."

ne e&ening, ChiChi was up late in the night packing clothes in a small 'ackpack. n her 'ed was a flyer of

the 78rd World )artial *rts Tournament. ChiChi didn%t want anyone to know what she was doing, especially

after hearing her father%s disappro&al of her entering the tournament. She had to do this alone and +uietly. When she was done packing, ChiChi stealthily left her home without anyone noticing. She made the twenty

mile walk to the nearest city to the small airport that would transport her to a larger airport and take her to

    apaya (sland and e&entually oku.

The whole trip took half a day since ChiChi had to change planes at the airport since apaya (sland was on

the other side of the world and the flight was long. (t was raining when the plane landed at apaya (sland.

She hailed a ta!i that took her to the tournament sign up area. ChiChi opened her um'rella after stepping

out of the ta!i and noticed the long line of competitors. She got in the line with them and waited.

ccasionally, she looked around in hopes of seeing oku, 'ut there was no sign of him.

"*reyouactually going to participate in the tournament?" a gruff &oice said from 'ehind her.

ChiChi looked 'ehind her and saw a tall tiger man 'ehind her. "$es ( am."

The tiger smiled down at her wickedly. "Hmm. ( ne&er had a pretty opponent 'efore." He licked his lips.

"specially not one that looks so tasty. (%m not sure (%d want to hurt you."

"Hmmp," ChiChi said and turned her 'ack on him. The 'est thing to do was ignore him.

The tiger man didn%t want to stop taunting ChiChi so he touched her rear and ChiChi responded with

roundhouse kick to the tiger man%s stomach and a sharp hit of her el'ow on his neck. The tiger crumpled tothe ground unconscious.

ChiChi turned her 'ack on him again and mo&ed up in the line. The people 'ehind her stepped o&er the tiger

man. When it was her turned, she ga&e the man her name and decided to ask a'out oku. "!cuse me, 'ut

has a young man name Son oku signed in yet?"

The man at the ta'le looked o&er his long list, turned another page and looked up at ChiChi. "5o, he hasn%t."

"Thank you." ChiChi stepped away and decide to wait for oku. Thirty minutes passed and ChiChi scolded

herself. "What am ( doing? ( could get pneumonia waiting for him out here in the rain and ( ha&e to check in

a hotel 'efore all the rooms fill up. (%ll look for him tomorrow."

ChiChi crossed the street to the hotel a 'lock away. (t was then that another ta!i pulled up in front of the

tournament sign up area and )aster 4oshi and 9aunch stepped out.

Ten minutes after )aster 4oshi and 9aunch arri&ed, Takashi stepped out of a ta!i. He opened his um'rella

so he wouldn%t get wet. He looked around not seeing ChiChi anywhere. This was getting annoying. "( know

    she%s here."

"Where in the world could ChiChi be?" Ox King asked at breakfast.

Takashi shrugged his shoulders in confusion as well. He invited hiself over for breakfast to once ore !ursue

ChiChi and was u!set to find her gone. "one of the servants have seen her?"

"o# not since she went to bed#" Ox King said eating his rice. "ChiChi should be all right# wherever she is. $he%s

    a tough girl."

Takashi !ushed his finished !late aside# thinking. %ChiChi would never leave without telling her father where she

was going. $he res!ects her father too uch to worry hi like this& unless she !lanned to do soething Ox

King doesn%t want her to do.% 't was then Takashi thought about the World (artial )rts Tournaent that is

toorrow. %$he wouldn%t.% He knew ChiChi and her ind when she wanted soething. %$he would. What a

    foolish girl.%

Takashi siled at Ox King# refusing to confir the king of his sus!icions. "*ou%re right. ChiChi will be fine."

Takashi left and returned later to +oin the Ox King for lunch. He found the giant an eating ha!!ily. He eyed

the large table !iled with food that Ox King will soon eat carefully. Takashi took a sall vial of li,uid out of his

!ocket and !oured it in a bowl of sou! as Ox King was busily consuing his food and not !aying attention.Takashi ixed the li,uid substance with the s!oon before Ox King looked u! fro his !late to notice. "Has

ChiChi showed u! yet?" Takashi asked as he stroll away fro the table.

"o# but '% sure she will soon."

Ox King !olished off another !late and another before he reached for the bowl.

"$trange she hadn%t contacted you#" Takashi said watching the Ox King eat his bowl of sou!. "ChiChi%s a strong

reached for another eal. %)nytie now.%

!asta dish. ) servant rushed in hearing Takashi%s cry. "uick- /et a doctor-" Takashi ordered.

(inutes later# Ox King was lying in bed breathing heavily and groaning in !ain. Takashi was at the Ox King%s

side. $ervants waited around the roo for the results as a doctor iediately checked Ox King%s condition.

    "What%s wrong# doctor?"The doctor%s ex!ression were gri. "The king has been !oisoned."

$ervants in the roo gas!ed in shock and urured aong theselves. "0oisoned?" Takashi asked. "How?"

"'t ust be in the food."

Takashi turned to the servants sus!iciously. "*ou can%t think we hared our kind king-" ) servant said.

"'t%s hard not to think it when you are the ones who cook his food-" Takashi accused angrily. "We ust find his

daughter and bring her here. $he ust know of this and only she can find the suitable !unishent of the !erson

The servants shook their heads. Takashi groaned. "'%ll find her then."

    * wicked gleam was in Takashi eyes as he thought o&er his plan. He walked o&er to the sign in area and asked

if ChiChi and Son oku has checked in to which the man said yes a'out ChiChi 'ut no a'out oku. (t was

good that oku hadn%t arri&ed yet so ChiChi couldn%t 'e looking for him now. Takashi knew he couldn%t find

ChiChi now either so he decided to find her tomorrow at the tournament.

    To /e Continued

#rillin stared at his 'est friend in awe as oku ate and ate and ate to his heart%s content. They were at theirregular restaurant "Delicious" where they cele'rated their wins and losses at the tournaments in the past. (t

was great to ha&e e&eryone reunited again since they hadn%t seen each other in three years. 5either went into

details a'out the training they went under 'ut they all agreed it was &igorous and worth it for all the strength

    and knowledge they ha&e gathered.

"Still, the same as e&er, oku," #rillin laughed at all the food oku had eaten. He also still couldn%t 'elie&e

how tall his friend had grown.

/ulma was also impressed a'out how oku look now, 'ut her thoughts were different from #rillin%s. %( ne&er

knew that hick kid ( met as a 'oy would grow up to 'e so handsome. He really is cute.%

*s usual, oku cleaned out the restaurant and )aster 4oshi paid for the meal. &eryone left the restaurant

full and happy. ChiChi arri&ed at the restaurant ten minutes later for a meal herself 'ut was turned down

when they said a young man cleaned them out of their food. ChiChi knew it was oku.

"This young man11did he ha&e wild, 'lack hair and the most handsome face e&er."

":h6" a waiter scratched his head. "( don%t know a'out handsome, 'ut yes he did ha&e wild, 'lack hair."

"Where did he go?" ChiChi asked desperately. She was so close and so far away to finding oku.

":m, he and his friends left ten minutes ago. They went 'ack to the hotel."

"Thank you0" ChiChi said and raced out the restaurant. She stopped as a reali;ation dawned on her. Which

hotel? There were at least three hotels near'y and oku could 'e in any one of them. (n that instant, her

hopes were dashed. Sadly, she got some takeout at another restaurant and made her way 'ack to the hotel

room11the same one oku was checked in.

    oku, #rillin, $amcha, Tien and Chao;u got in one ele&ator while /ulma, 9aunch, )aster 4oshi, olong

and uar got in the other.

ChiChi arri&ed 'ack at the hotel -ust as the ele&ator that held oku closed in. ChiChi got in the third ele&ator

alone and took her trip to the eighth floor. oku and his friends got off the eighth floor as well and said

goodnight to their friends 'efore retiring in their rooms. ChiChi stepped off her ele&ator and entered her

hotel room -ust three doors down from oku%s.

ChiChi was in a deliriously happy mood when she arri&ed at the tournament the following morning. She

couldn%t sleep. She was so e!cited to meet oku and remind him of his promise. ChiChi wondered if he wasstill cute and adora'le as he was when they were kids. She remem'ered him 'eing so strong. ChiChi knew it

was him who defeated #ing iccolo and to 'e the suita'le wife of a man like that, ChiChi felt she should 'e

strong as well. She worked hard in mastering all the skills her father learned from )aster 4oshi and now she

was stronger than the great ! #ing. *lso to 'e a good wife for oku, ChiChi learned how to 'e an e!cellent

cook from the chefs in her father%s castle and the maids taught her how to 'e a good cleaner of the house and

clothes and taught her in other areas how to 'e a good wife. ChiChi wanted to 'e the 'est wife in the world

for oku, so she learned e&erything a good wife should know. ChiChi e&en learned how to knit and sew. She

dreamed of making clothes for oku and their children and imagine how happy oku would 'e to ha&e a

wife like her. She -ust couldn%t wait to show off her skills.

ChiChi arri&ed at the tournament early so she wouldn%t get caught in the crowd. She heard a'out how

popular the last tournament was so she knew to arri&e early. Soon other fighters entered. ChiChi stood in the

corner watching them all. Some were humans others were animals like an alligator with a 'lack 'elt, a fo!

and a tall green man in a white cape and tur'an. She kept looking around for oku. That was when she spotted him. oku was -ust as she imagined he would 'e11tall, handsome and strong

looking the same with that wild 'lack hair. She could ne&er forget that hairstyle. (t was his trademark. She

could feel her heart pounding at the sight of him. ChiChi noticed oku was talking to another face she

remem'ered11$amcha. She remem'ered the former 'andit telling her that he was in lo&e with her. ChiChi

didn%t lo&e him and would ha&e to tell him that after she spoke with oku. There was another man only

shorter and 'ald, a tall man with three eyes standing 'eside another short man with his face made up like a

    clown.

ChiChi was on cloud nine now that she met her 'etrothed and daydreamed a'out her meeting with oku.

ChiChi walked over and ta!!ed /oku%s back. He turned around and siled.

focus was to talk to oku.

    tapped oku on the shoulder.

"$ou seem upset at that, uh, fellow11Son oku? (s he an enemy of yours?" #ami asked. He saw the

confrontation 'etween the two and was curious himself as to why the young woman was upset with him.

oku was a man of pure heart and would ne&er hurt anyone unless they threatened the li&es of innocence and

the woman 'efore him didn%t ha&e e&il in her.

"He%s not my enemy, 'ut a cruel man for what he did to me," ChiChi said still upset with oku.

This peaked #ami%s interest. What in the world could a person as kind and pure as oku do to make this

woman of purity and goodness upset with him. "That doesn%t make sense," he muttered to himself.

ChiChi was losing. oku 'locked and ducked all of ChiChi%s kicks and punches. When she tried to trip oku,

he -umped out of the way. oku caught her punches and ChiChi was +uick to mo&e with another attack.

oku wasn%t attacking ChiChi at all. (n fact, it seemed he looked confused and was trying to ask her

something and an angry ChiChi was yelling at him. oku took to the sky to escape her 'ut ChiChi -umped in

after him fighting oku. oku didn%t seem happy that ChiChi was kicking him in the sky 'ut he didn%t attack

her. The two landed and oku looked pleadingly at ChiChi asking her something. Takashi learned what wasgoing on when he heard Chi1Chi spoke.

    "3ine0 (%ll tell you the promise you 'roke0 $ou said ( would 'e your 'ride0 $ou promised to marry me00"

The crowd fell silent to murmurs at what ChiChi said.

Takashi heard ChiChi promised to tell her name if oku defeated her. With a simple attack of not e&en

hitting her, oku knocked ChiChi out of the ring. The crowd was stun. oku ran o&er to ChiChi asking if shewas all right and apologi;ing for using the attack so hard. ChiChi ru''ed her sore head and stood up. She

complimented him on his fighting and how impressed she was. oku asked for her name and she ga&e it to

him still annoyed he hadn%t figured it out yet.

Takashi saw the fla''ergasted look on oku%s face. He stuttered as he stared at her. "Wait a minute. $ou%re

"Then the promise you made was a mistake?" ChiChi asked. She was the &erge of tears now as she reali;ed

her dreams were shattered and she couldn%t argue if oku did turn her down. She understood now. He didn%t

oku and ChiChi watched as an image of a flower appear in the 'all. (t resem'led a morning glory flower

with the petals of red and yellow intertwining together.

"(s that it?" ChiChi asked hopefully.

    "$es," /a'a answered.

    "Where is it?"

"9et%s see." The image of the flower faded and a castle appeared. (t was a tall, ma-estic castle that resem'led

"kay. 9et%s go." oku -umped on 5im'us gra''ed ChiChi suddenly and took off.

/a'a watch as oku and ChiChi fly away. She noticed that ChiChi was 'arely hanging on to oku as she

was dangling the air. /a'a shook her head and frowned at oku%s 'eha&ior. "Someone needs to teach that

    'oy some manners."

With the trip 'eing a long one, oku talked to ChiChi a'out what happened at the tournament after ChiChi

left. ChiChi was horrified at what she learned what happened to oku in the final match with iccolo.

    "What are you doing, ChiChi?"

"( was trying to kiss you, oku."

"h, you mean like you did 'ack at the tournament?" oku asked. "( guess that would 'e okay, 'ut why

"oku, you don%t ask for a kiss. $ou gi&e a kiss if the moment feels right to you." She saw oku still looking

    "4omantic? What%s that?"

ChiChi wasn%t surprised 'y that. 3rom what maids told her, men knew nothing a'out romance. "/eing

"So, when ( re&i&ed my friends when #ing iccolo killed them, that was 'eing romantic?" oku asked tryingto get a meaning of this new word.

ChiChi shook her head. She would ha&e to go a'out it another way. "5o. :m, when you really like or lo&e

someone and you do something for them like proposing in a really sweet or une!pected way that%s romantic.

"/ecause it%s 'eing courteous and respectful to your lady. *ny good man should do this for his lady and with

"$es, for starters," ChiChi agreed. "/ut you will learn more later."

5im'us landed in a forest and oku held his hand out for ChiChi. ChiChi placed her hand in his and they

-umped off 5im'us together. "9ike that?" oku asked if he was right.

"$es, oku. $ou can do it anyway you like as long as you help me off and on 5im'us."

    "otcha."

oku and ChiChi found lots of fruit for them to eat in the forest. ChiChi had oku remo&ed his red shirt so

they would carry all the food. When they were finished getting their food, the two headed 'ack to 5im'uswho was waiting patiently. oku got on the cloud first with his shirt and took ChiChi%s hand, helping her on

5im'us. *fterwards, they ;oomed 'ack in the sky once more.

ChiChi 'it into her apple and smiled at oku. "4emem'er when we were kids and you met me at my father%s

castle? $ou ga&e me an apple then."

oku thought 'ack to when they were kids. He remem'ered 'eing a child, eating some apples in a tree, when

he heard someone singing. The &oice was sweet and memora'le. He sat up in the tree and peek through the

lea&es looking for the owner of the &oice. He saw a girl at the lake picking flowers. She looked familiar. oku

called out asking if the girl was ChiChi. The girl turned around and oku -umped out of the tree running to

her. (t wasChiChi and she was going on at how happy she was to see him and how she was ama;ed that he

came all this way to see her.

oku didn%t know what ChiChi was talking a'out so he asked her what she was doing and ChiChi told him

that she was picking flowers for their wedding. oku, clueless asked what a wedding was. He really didn%t

know and ChiChi giggled and smacked oku telling him to stop teasing her. oku slammed into the tree

hard hurting his head and tail. He ne&er thought such a delicate looking girl was so strong.

oku found himself staring at ChiChi now as an adult. *s he watch her eat her apple, he stared at her

features from her wide innocent eyes, her smile, he still saw that same delicate looking girl as a child.

ChiChi smiled at him thoughtfully. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"(%m -ust seeing that you%re still that delicate looking girl ( remem'er as a kid."

ChiChi%s smile widen e&en more making oku wondered what he said to get her to smile like that. "Thank

you. When you ga&e me that apple, ( thought it was romantic."

    "4eally?"

    ")m1hmm."

With their food eaten, oku put his shirt 'ack on. ChiChi pulled out a clothe she had and wiped oku%s face.

"$ou%re kind of a messy eater, oku. $ou got food all o&er mouth."

The gesture was simple enough 'ut with ChiChi holding one hand on his face and using the other to clean his

face, it was making oku feel warm. He also felt he was 'eing tickled. "*h, stop that, ChiChi. That tickles."

He gra''ed her hands and pulled it away from his, surprising ChiChi."( ha&e to clean your face," ChiChi insisted. "(t%s dirty."

    "/ut you tickle."

"That%s not a 'ad thing," ChiChi said and returned to wiped the rest of the crum's from his face. "See? *ll

    clean."

oku +uietly nodded 'ut he still felt his face was warm 'y the gesture. That ne&er happened 'efore.

    * few hours later, it was nighttime and oku was wondering how he and ChiChi going to sleep were. "We

will 'e flying all night. (f we stop anywhere to sleep, we would waste time."

"Why should we ha&e to stop?" ChiChi asked. "We can stay here on 5im'us. (t%s 'ig enough for 'oth of us6

if we sleep close." ChiChi felt a 'lush on her cheeks when she said that.

    oku was a 'it ner&ous 'y that idea. ":m, ( guess that%s all right. We don%t ha&e a choice anyway."

"We%re going to 'e married anyway and we will 'e sleeping much closer, so ( guess it%s okay," ChiChi added

    as her 'lush deepened.

"What do you mean sleeping much closer?" oku asked."(t%s -ust that we%re going to do some things that only married people do. (%ll tell you a'out it later. We should

    sleep now."

"kay." oku laid down on 5im'us. ChiChi laid down 'eside oku, cuddling close to oku, intertwining

her legs with his, pressing her 'ody against his from his thighs to his chest. oku -erked surprised. "( didn%t

think we would 'e thisclose, ChiChi."

    "(f ( don%t sleep close to you, ( may roll o&er off 5im'us. ( tend to mo&e in my sleep," ChiChi e!plained.

"h, okay," oku said slowly still not sure a'out sleeping so close to ChiChi. "Well, good night then."

ChiChi surprised oku once more 'y kissing him on the lips. oku 'lushed and his eyes widened. He

wondered if he would e&er get used to this. "oodnight, oku." She laid down and closed her eyes.

oku wasn%t sure a'out this. 9ying with ChiChi made him a 'it uncomforta'le. He ne&er was this close to

anyone 'efore, not e&en his grandpa.

%This is going to 'e strange when we marry,% oku thought 'efore falling asleep.

oku was the first to awaken that morning. He yawned and tried to stretch 'ut ChiChi still held onto him

tightly as she slept. oku gently pried ChiChi arms from around one of his and sat up. He was a'le to stretch

    "( don%t know, 'ut it shouldn%t 'e much longer."

ChiChi leaned on oku. "( hope my father can hold out until we find the flower. /y the time we get it, it%ll 'e

")ay'e we could ask /a'a that after your father is well again," oku suggested.

")ay'e," ChiChi said and noticed something in the distance. "oku, look0"

oku looked to where ChiChi was pointing. They saw the castle /a'a showed them in her crystal 'all. "(t%s

    the castle."

The castle was naturally much larger than what oku and ChiChi saw in the crystal 'all. (t held se&eral

towers not made of 'ricks as traditional castles were 'ut of glass and iron. The land was 'eautiful with

perfect green grass, rolling hills, &ariety of flowers surrounding the castle and a lake 'ehind it as oku and

ChiChi flew a'o&e it. *lthough the land looked pretty, oku was getting the feeling something wasn%t right.

5im'us landed in front of the castle. oku got off first and helped ChiChi off. They walked up to the dou'le

doors which were twice their height. oku started to knock 'ut the doors opened 'efore he could.

    "That%s strange," oku said.

    "( don%t think it%s a good sign," ChiChi said.

    "5o, it pro'a'ly isn%t."

oku and ChiChi stepped inside anyway. They looked around the foyer they were in. The walls were

decorated with paintings of people oku and ChiChi ne&er knew. They could only guess it were the pre&ious

residents of the castle. * chandelier hung a'o&e them and it had so many lights it sparkled like diamonds.

The mar'le floors were spotless and decorated in tiles with colors of red and 'lack. (n front of them was a tall

staircase and as oku and ChiChi%s eyes went up the steps, they saw woman at the top11the same old woman

    in /a'a%s crystal 'all.

*s the old woman descended down the stairs, oku and ChiChi got a 'etter look at her. She was a &ery oldwoman with long sil&er hair. The wrinkles on her face indicated she was near her eighties and her dull green

eyes were lost of life. She wore a 'allroom gown with fa'ric of silk shimmering in the softest la&ender and

lilac ChiChi has e&er seen. The old woman%s neck was decorated in a diamond necklace with matching ears.

Her hands weren%t left either as her right held gold and diamond 'racelet and la&ender rings on 'oth hands.

Her attire and her posture indicated she was a woman of high class. When the old woman reached the 'ottom

of the steps, she looked at oku and ChiChi displeased.

"Who are you and what do you want?" she asked 'itterly.

oku stepped forward to introduce himself. ")y name is oku and we%re looking for the 2eras flower."

*t the mention of the flower, she scowled at them. "Why do you want it?"

This time ChiChi spoke. ")y father was poisoned 'y those flowers and it%s the only thing that can cure him.

Could we please ha&e it to sa&e my father?" she 'egged.

"What would you gi&e me in return?"

oku and ChiChi were stumped. They didn%t know they had to 'arter anything. "( don%t ha&e it with menow, 'ut if you gi&e me the flower, ( would gi&e you any treasure in my father%s kingdom."

The old woman laughed, loudly and arrogantly. "9ook at my home. There is nothing your father can gi&e

that ( don%t ha&e. /esides, ( wouldn%t want his treasure anyway." She looked at oku. "What is he to you?"

ChiChi wrapped her arms around oku, not liking this old woman was looking at him. "He%s my fianc."

"3ianc?" the old woman scoffed. "He doesn%t e&en lo&e you and neither do you to he."

"How dare you say that0" ChiChi said angrily and insulted.

"( say it 'ecause it%s true. ( am, )ara and ( ha&e the power to see into the hearts of people. ( see their desires,

their true lo&es." She points at oku. "He doesn%t lo&e you. He doesn%t e&en know what lo&e means0"

ChiChi hated to admit it, 'ut )ara was right. She didn%t know e&erything a'out oku 'ut it didn%t change

her feelings for him. The stories she heard a'out a little 'oy defeating the 4ed 4i''on *rmy and #ing

"oku patting your crotch isn%t a sign of lo&e, nor was it his way of letting you know he wanted to marry you.

(t was his way of finding out if you were a 'oy or girl." She smirked seeing the look of shock on ChiChi%s face.

'ut laughed. She snapped her finger and the ceiling a'o&e oku and ChiChi 'egan to shake.

oku and ChiChi looked up to see the chandelier coming down on ChiChi. oku tackled ChiChi to the

ground and co&ered his 'ody with hers. *fter the chandelier crash to the ground, oku looked at ChiChi who

    was startled at what happened.

"*re you okay?" oku asked ChiChi.

    "$es."

oku looked 'ack at )ara upset. "What did you do that for?"

)ara stared into oku%s angry eyes looking for something. To her surprise, she didn%t find it. "( see it%s in

your nature to protect people, oku, 'ut protecting ChiChi is different than protecting your friends."

"What do you mean 'y that?" oku asked.

ChiChi stood 'y oku%s side on her own and was a 'it disappointed at oku%s confusion. )ara saw the look

in ChiChi%s eyes. "$ou e&en disappoint your fiance with your confusion, oku. (%ll let you humor me and

)ara%s eyes sparked green and the floor 'eneath oku and ChiChi ga&e away and the two fall in screaming."(%ll see for myself the feelings that lie in you two."

oku and ChiChi continued to scream as they fell se&eral feet in the hole )ara created for them. oku could

see no end to the trap he and ChiChi had fallen into. oku flew down pass ChiChi and caught himself in mid1

flight. He held his hands out and ChiChi fell into his arms. oku then flew them out of the hole. When they

reached the surface, they were no longer in the foyer.

"Wh1where are we?" ChiChi asked looking around.

"How did we get here?" oku asked.

They were in a hot, dry desert. *'o&e them was the hot sun, sweltering down on them. (t had to 'e o&er >@@

"' put you here. $ou%re still in my castle 'ut right now it%s a ma;e where you must find your way out

"Then you 'etter get a mo&e on then and pass my tests," )ara said coldly.

"Come on, ChiChi. We 'etter find that door," oku said.

They walked through the desert under the hot sun, sweating and out of 'reath in search of water and some

freedom from the sun 'eating down on them for the ne!t hour 'ut there was no hope in site.

"5o trees, no cactus, no oasis, no nothing," ChiChi said as looked at nothing 'ut sand for miles and miles

ahead. "(f we don%t find water soon, we%re going go dehydrate."

"Don%t talk, ChiChi," oku said out of 'reath as well. He was 'reathing hard with sweat pouring down his

ChiChi nodded. She paused for a moment to catch her 'reath. The sun was 'eating down on her 'ody, sweat

poured from her face and arms and her clothes were tightening on her skin. Her hair was matted on her skin

as well. She was a'out to mo&e again when she felt something gra' her ankle. ChiChi looked down and saw a

skeleton hand around her ankle. ChiChi let out a startled scream that caught oku%s attention.

oku saw ChiChi pulling on her ankle as if she was stuck on something. oku went to ChiChi to help her.

"What%s the matter?""This skeleton hand is on my ankle0" ChiChi screamed as she tried to pull it out.

oku gra''ed ChiChi%s ankle in an attempt to free her. &en he was finding trou'le freeing ChiChi. This

wasn%t good. "What are you stuck to?" oku strained and pulled ChiChi free knocking him on his 'ack and

knocking ChiChi on top of him.

ChiChi got up and looked 'ack at her ankle. "(t%s free. Thanks." When she looked in oku%s direction, her

eyes widen as she saw skeletons rising from the sand. "oku, look0"

The two 'oth stood and looked to see skeletons holding swords and shields rising from the sand. 3rom what

they could add up, they were surrounded 'y twenty of them. The skeletons walked in as if closing in on oku

and ChiChi and then let out a 'attle cry as they screamed running towards oku and ChiChi.

oku and ChiChi were 'ack to 'ack with each other as they prepared themsel&es for 'attle. When the

skeletons got closer, the two defended themsel&es and attacked. oku was +uick to dodged, -ump and a&oid

getting slice with the skeletons swords. He sent a karate kick into the one and it fell apart into se&eral pieces.

"That was easy," oku thought. The skeleton reformed 'ut instead of one, there were two skeleton warriors.

":h1oh." oku looked 'ack at ChiChi to see how she was doing and he saw her pick one warrior up and

threw him towards two other skeleton warriors. The three 'roken warriors soon rose and 'ecame si!.

"ChiChi0" oku called out and ran to her side.

ChiChi stepped closer to oku. "They%re multiplying, oku."

"$eah. We%re gonna ha&e to go a'out this another way," oku said. "Stay close 'eside me, ChiChi.

"kay," ChiChi said and got 'ehind oku.

    oku prepared himself for the #amehameha Wa&e. "#a6 me6 ha6 me6 H*000" oku fired the wa&e on

all warriors coming in his and ChiChi%s direction. *ll the skeletons turned to dust under the hot fire of the

#amehameha Wa&e. oku and ChiChi waited a minute 'efore rela!ing.

ChiChi smiled relie&ed the ordeal was o&er. "$ou did it0" ChiChi said and threw her arms around oku in a

    hug.

oku frowned 'ut he didn%t let her hug 'other him. He was starting to see a pattern with ChiChi and her

hugs. "That%s that. 9et%s go and find that door, ChiChi."

oku and ChiChi only got a few more steps in when they heard something 'ehind them. They looked 'ackand saw the skeleton warriors reforming again, dou'ling their si;e once more.

"(6didn%t e!pect that," oku said seeing now there were o&er forty warriors. "( thought the #amehameha

would melt them into sand and they wouldn%t come 'ack."

"There%s only one thing to do in a situation like this," ChiChi said.

"What%s that?" oku asked looking for ideas himself.

"4un for your life0" ChiChi gra''ed oku%s arm and 'egin pulling him away from the skeleton warriors

    that were now chasing them.

    "Wait0 ChiChi0 ( don%t want to run0 ( want to fight0" oku yelled.

"$ou can%t fight against that0" ChiChi yelled 'ack. "They keep growing and growing if you attack them0"

ChiChi then screamed as she felt the ground falling in under her.

oku almost misstep and fell in with ChiChi. oku didn%t understand it 'ut he saw ChiChi falling in further

and further until she was stuck to her waist in the sand. He gra''ed her hand and struggled to pull her out

'ut the force pulling on ChiChi was much stronger than his."What%s the deal?" oku asked as he strained to pull ChiChi out.

"(t%s +uicksand0" ChiChi said as she held on to oku as tight as she could.

"Auicksand? What%s that?" oku asked pu;;led.

"(t%s sand that%s pulling me into the ground0" ChiChi tried to clim' higher on oku 'ut she was getting

pulled deeper and deeper into the +uicksand. 5ow she was co&ered up to her 'reasts. "oku, help me0"

"(%m trying0" oku looked 'ack to see if the skeleton warriors had caught up to them, 'ut they were gone as

"oku0" ChiChi screamed now she was co&ered up to her neck in +uicksand.

Suddenly, he was latched onto something and felt himself 'eing pulled in the +uicksand. When oku fell

through he didn%t see more sand 'ut he found himself falling down a ca&e and at the 'ottom was a large 'ody

of water where he made a loud splash.

The cool water was refreshing since he was in that hot desert for so long. He swam to the surface and lookedaround for his fiance. (f he fell in here, ChiChi must ha&e too. "ChiChi? ChiChi0" oku called out.

"oku0" oku turned around and saw ChiChi swimming to him with a smile on her face. "oku, ( figured it

out0 This was the door we were looking for."

"The door? /ut ( thought we were looking for a real door."

"5o, ( think she -ust meant that door could 'e any opening like a door opens to anyplace. We were tra&eling

in that desert for o&er an hour going no where and where would we find a door in a desert?"

"( see what you mean," oku said catching on. "So how will get out of here?"

"( don%t know," ChiChi said as she looked around 'ut we%re gonna ha&e to swim.

oku and ChiChi swam around the area going around each corner they saw four times until they reali;ed

they were 'ack where they started.

"Didn%t we start here?" oku asked.

":h, yeah. We%re going no where again," ChiChi said looking around for a way out.

":m, ChiChi, we did fall in through here. Do you think it%s possi'le we would ha&e to swim 'elow the water

    to find the ne!t door?"

ChiChi looked down in the waters. "/ut how will we swim under the water thatlong?"

"We%re gonna ha&e to try. (%ll go first." oku di&ed in the water. He swam deep in the waters looking around

for a way out of there or a place to gather some air.

oku was starting to run out of air when he saw an opening. He swam upwards to an opening. When he

reached the top, he let out the 'reath of air he was holding. He looked up and smiled. He found a way out.

ChiChi was getting worried. oku was gone for fi&e minutes now. She didn%t know he could last that long

underwater. She started to go in after him when oku resurfaced.

"oku, ( was so worried. $ou were gone for a while."

"( found a way out, ChiChi. (t%s pretty deep so you need to hold your 'reath for a while."

    "kay," ChiChi agreed.

oku and ChiChi took a deep 'reath and di&ed in the water. ChiChi followed oku. He was a faster

swimmer than her. ChiChi swam faster to keep up 'ut that was causing her to use her energy and run of

'reath. ChiChi tug on oku%s pants. He looked 'ack and saw ChiChi was looking as if she was struggling to'reathe. oku flew to ChiChi%s side and put an arm around her waist. He swam for the 'oth of them faster

and faster until he found the place that would let them out. He got them to the surface and ChiChi 'reathed

    in the air.

ChiChi leaned against the rock panting hea&ily. "How6long6 can6 you6 hold your6 'reath?"

    ":m, a'out a couple of minutes or something. ( ne&er timed myself."

"* couple of minutes?0" ChiChi shrieked.

    "That%s not long."

ChiChi couldn%t 'elie&e he said that. "How will we get out?"

oku pointed upward. "We clim'. There%s a light at the top."

ChiChi looked up and saw how high they would ha&e to clim' up the -agged rocks and cre&asse of the ca&e.

    "(t%s so high."

"Well, ( could fly us. (t%ll get us to the top a lot faster," oku said. "Clim' on my 'ack, ChiChi." ChiChi did

as she was told, wrapping her arms around oku%s neck.oku flew easily to the top of the ca&e. *s they did so, )ara watched them. %Hmm, so they are working

together.% When oku passed through the light, oku and ChiChi found themsel&es in a forest.

"5ow, we%re in a forest? (n snow?" ChiChi asked as she and oku walked around.

The forest was co&ered in light snow of a'out fi&e inches. *ll the lea&es were long gone and the trees were

decorated in a lo&ely mi! of ice and snow with icicles on the ends of trees and snow on 'ranches and lightly

falling to the ground as gentle winter 'ree;e filled the air. The scene would 'e 'eautiful to ChiChi if she

    wasn%t getting cold.

"h0" ChiChi said ru''ing her arms as a 'ree;e 'lew 'y. "(t%s a 'it chilly." She looked ahead and saw a

snow capped mountain not too far ahead of them. "*nd it%s going to get cooler if we hike that mountain."

"(t looks like it," oku said. "*re you cold?" he asked ChiChi.

    "$eah. *ren%t you?"

"5o, it%s not that 'ad." oku said and wrapped an arm around ChiChi 'efore they walked ahead in the

forest. oku smiled as they continued on in the forest. "*side from the weather, this almost reminds me of

    home."

"4eally?" ChiChi said now taking interest in the surroundings around her and liking how oku%s arm feltaround her. "(s it really like your home?"

"$eah. The trees are similar and the feelings are similar to home. ( hadn%t 'een there in a long time."

    "How come?"

"( was always on an ad&enture. The last time ( was home it was si! years ago and ( gathered some stuff to go

to )aster 4oshi%s house for training and ( ha&en%t 'een 'ack. *fter ( trained with him, ( went to find my

randpa%s dragon 'all, got in a fight with the 4ed 4i''on *rmy and then ( 'egan training for the ne!t

tournament. ( was going to take a 'reak then 'ut #rillin was killed and ( had to a&enge his death and that%s

how ( got in the fight with #ing iccolo and after that, #ami had me trained under him to fight iccolo at the

78rd tournament. ( -ust didn%t ha&e any time to go home."

"So, it was one 'ig ad&enture after another for you." ChiChi guessed. "( can%t say my life was like that."

"What did you do o&er the years?" oku asked.

"5ormal things a girl does ( imagine. ( learned how to knit and sew. ( learned how to cook, to 'e a good wife.

)y father also taught me how to fight. He taught me all that he knows."

    "So, the ! #ing hasn%t mastered the #amehameha Wa&e yet, huh?"

"5o. (t took )aster 4oshi fifty years to create that attack, 'ut," ChiChi paused looking at oku, "you were

a'le to. Well, make a small one as a kid. (%m sure you can make a 'igger one now."

"h, that%s right. $ou missed out on the tournament and the rest of my fights. $ou ne&er saw the

    #amehameha Wa&e ( made."

    ChiChi shook her head. "5o, ( didn%t."

"Want to see it now?" oku asked.

    "Sure."

ChiChi stepped 'ack as oku prepared the #amehameha Wa&e. oku showed ChiChi the mega

#amehameha Wa&e he ga&e to iccolo in the tournament. ChiChi was in awe of the wa&e. She had ne&er seen

anything like it in her life. (t really impressed ChiChi. The wa&e shot in the sky o&er the lake, creating a loud

    e!plosion.

"h, wow. (t%s like falling tiny stars," ChiChi said in awe as the remains of the #amehameha Wa&e falling

onto the lake thinly co&ered in ice. "oku, that was ama;ing. $ou%re so strong0" ChiChi e!claimed andgra''ed his arm e!cited.

oku looked down at ChiChi. He didn%t think that she would 'e that impressed 'y his #amehameha Wa&e

'ut #rillin did tell him that women like strong men. )ay'e this was what #rillin meant. The thought of

marriage reminded oku of what )ara said.

":m, ChiChi, when )ara was talking a'out you and me getting married. What did she mean a'out me not

    courting you?"

"She means you ne&er tried to pursue me. $ou ne&er took me out on dates or ga&e me things or say nice

things to me, 'ut ( didn%t need all that. ( -ust wanted you. $ou seemed so sweet and innocent. There%s

something a'out you that gets my heart 'eating fast, gets me e!cited to 'e near you. ( guess ( felt that way

e&er since ( thought you wanted to marry me when you touched me. ( thought it was your way of you showing

your feelings for me, 'ut it wasn%t, was it?" ChiChi asked. "(s it true what )ara said11that you only touched

me 'ecause you were trying to learn if ( was a 'oy or girl?"

"$eah. ( didn%t know. The only human ( grew around was my grandpa. What was the 'ig deal that ( touchyou that made you thought ( wanted to marry you?"

"/ecause you%re not supposed to touch anyone there unless they are your hus'and or wife."

"Then how was ( to tell if you were a 'oy or girl?" oku asked.

"Couldn%t you tell 'y looking?" ChiChi asked.

"5o. ( only reali;ed the difference 'etween 'oys and girls when ( saw /ulma without her underwear."

"What?0" ChiChi screamed. "What were you doing looking at her naked?0"

oku stepped 'ack startled at ChiChi%s reaction. Why was she so angry? "/ulma was the first person ( met

since grandpa died and when ( slept with grandpa ( slept on his lap on his 'alls and ( thought ( could do the

same with /ulma 'ut she felt flat so ( pulled off her underwear to see what happened to her 'alls and saw she

didn%t ha&e any 'alls. That%s when ( learned the difference 'etween 'oys and girls."

oku wasn%t sure how ChiChi would react 'ut he didn%t e!pect her to laugh. ChiChi clutched her side

laughing so loud and out of control. Tears 'egan to fall from her eyes. "( can%t 'elie&e you did that0" she said

in 'etween laughs. "h, my," ChiChi said wiping the last tear from her eye. "$ou%re something else, oku.

That was the only time you did that right11feeling on girls and looking at them naked?""Well, ( did touch a little girl and an old lady 'efore you to find out who they were," oku said innocently.

"They -ust stood there confused and /ulma hit me."

"$ou deser&ed it," ChiChi scolded oku. "$ou shouldn%t 'e doing that. $ou don%t do that now do you?"

"5o, ( learned the difference 'etween them a long time ago, 'ut ( don%t understand the 'ig deal of touching to

find out if they were a 'oy or girl."

"/ecause it%s not proper0" ChiChi yelled. "*nd it%s hurting to know that you didn%t touch me 'ecause you

want me or like me 'ut only to learn if ( was a 'oy or girl."

"(f you want to get e&en, you can touch me," oku said taking ChiChi%s hand suddenly and put it on his

    crotch.

"oku0" ChiChi yelled shocked oku would do that. Her face turned red as she reali;ed she was touching

oku in such an intimate area of his. She pulled her hand out of his arms. "( shouldn%t do that6 not now."

"$ou%re not making any sense," oku said. "What do you mean not now?

"When we%re married, we do things only married people do. Come on. 9et%s continue and find a way out of

    here."

"*ll right," oku said and followed ChiChi.

*s they walked away, they didn%t notice the waters in the lake 'u''ling, 'ut they did hear the roar of

    something 'ehind them.

oku and ChiChi looked 'ack to see a giant snow monster emerging from the water.

    "(t%s an a'omina'le snowman0" ChiChi cried.

    "*n a'omina'le what?" oku asked.

"That0" ChiChi yelled at the monster.

The snow monster 'lew cool 'reath out of his mouth towards oku and ChiChi. oku gra''ed ChiChi and

pulled her out of the way. They two looked 'ack to see that the 'reath from the monster had fro;en a tree in

    solid ice.

"Did you see that, oku?" ChiChi asked.

"$eah. et 'ack, ChiChi," oku warned his fiance.

ChiChi stepped 'ack and watch as oku challenged the monster and lured him away from ChiChi. okuflew up in the sky and prepared to melt the snow monster with a #amehameha Wa&e 'ut the snow monster

e!tended his arms which grew like tree lim's and gra''ed oku 'y his legs.

    ChiChi screamed. "oku0"

oku%s legs 'egan free;ing up into solid ice thanks to the snow monsters hands on them. The snowy 'eing

threw oku into the lake the monster itself emerge from. The monster roared and e!tended powers from his

hands that caused the lake to free;e up with oku trapped in it.

"oku0" ChiChi cried. She looked around frantically. There must 'e something she could do.

oku with two fro;en legs swam to the surface difficult as it was to his situation. He pounded on the ice 'ut it

wouldn%t crack. oku could feel his 'ody free;ing in the su'free;ing temperatures of the water. oku fell

deeper in the waters, 'eing dragged down 'y the weight of his legs. Howe&er, oku was a'le to summon

enough energy to swim to the surface with a lot of power 'ehind him and 'roke through the ice. oku was

a'le to heat his 'ody up to form a #amehameha Wa&e and 'last the snow monster. The heat of the wa&e was

a'le to completely destroy the monster and melt the ice on oku%s legs 'ut he was still free;ing ha&ing 'eingtrapped in a fro;en lake. He was e!hausted during the ordeal and fell 'ack in the water 'ut was a'le to swim

out 'efore he got any colder.

When oku emerge from the free;ing waters, he collapsed on the cold snow as his whole 'ody shi&ered.

ChiChi raced to his side. oku looked at ChiChi with 'lue lips. "(1(1it%s c1c1c
