• AtBC formed in 1997 as a registered non-profit
• Society is based on a Stakeholder model
• Funded by Provincial and Federal governments
– Blueprint Strategy (2005)

• Tourist visits have increased 97% between 2006-2010
• The Aboriginal market continues to be strong with one in four
• In order to develop more Market-Ready authentic Aboriginal cultural tourism experiences, AtBC offers programs which address a wide range of needs and levels of “readiness”
• AtBC’s marketing strategies are dedicated to raising awareness of the diverse and enriching Aboriginal tourism experiences available in BC
• Strategies are focused around key and emerging markets to create interest and drive business to Stakeholders
• AtBC is committed to promoting authenticAboriginal tourism to visitors
– Telling a local story, from the local place, by a local person
– Bringing home an Authentic souvenir created, produced and marketed by and Aboriginal person
• Aboriginal cultural tourism in BC can only grow, prosper and become sustainable through cultivation of partnerships
