Dear Willowville Parents and Students, January is just around the corner! Please be sure to bundle up! When we have an opportunity, we will take the students outside for some fresh air. Also through these months of having to stay indoors, we want to encourage ways to stay healthy by washing hands, covering our mouth when coughing, cleaning desks, etc. If you would like to help, please feel free to send in Kleenex, hand sanitizer, and Clorox wipes. The second week of January is our DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) assessment. Students are asked to read three grade level passages fluently and accurately. The data is used to determine what skills we need to focus on in our small differentiated groups. With the emphasis from the State on the Third Grade Reading Guarantee, it is crucial that we all work together to see that our students and children become fluent and accurate readers. I appreciate our volunteers who come in and read with our children a couple of days a week. Please continue to support your child at home by having them read to you or their sibling, and then challenge them to give you details of the story supported by evidence found in their passage. Again this year, I am thankful that our PTO is supporting our clay art project. This will be an optional activity during recess which will begin third quarter. The students last year really enjoyed this three to four week project. Please listen to the “All Call” for information when the project will begin. It is important to note that students must attend the first session in order to participate. Don’t forget about our Library Stars Program in conjunction with the Union Township Library. It’s easy to participate; register at the front desk in the library, check in each time you visit the library, and every month we will tally the visits for your child to receive a prize. Additionally, each time you visit the library, your name is written on a ticket and placed in a grade level container for a chance to win the grand prize at the end of the school year which will be a gift card per grade level. Yearbooks are now on sale for $20. You will not want to miss the memories from the school year! I want to thank our Willowville Families for their support and trust over the past week. Sincerely, Michelle Kennedy Michelle Kennedy, Principal

What's Up Willowville?

Dear Willowville Parents and Students, January is just around the corner! Please be sure to bundle up! When we have an opportunity, we will take the students outside

for some fresh air. Also through these months of having to stay indoors, we want to encourage ways to stay healthy by washing

hands, covering our mouth when coughing, cleaning desks, etc. If you would like to help, please feel free to send in Kleenex, hand

sanitizer, and Clorox wipes.

The second week of January is our DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) assessment. Students are asked

to read three grade level passages fluently and accurately. The data is used to determine what skills we need to focus on in our

small differentiated groups. With the emphasis from the State on the Third Grade Reading Guarantee, it is crucial that we all

work together to see that our students and children become fluent and accurate readers. I appreciate our volunteers who come

in and read with our children a couple of days a week. Please continue to support your child at home by having them read to you

or their sibling, and then challenge them to give you details of the story supported by evidence found in their passage.

Again this year, I am thankful that our PTO is supporting our clay art project. This will be an optional activity during recess

which will begin third quarter. The students last year really enjoyed this three to four week project. Please listen to the “All

Call” for information when the project will begin. It is important to note that students must attend the first session in order to

participate.

Don’t forget about our Library Stars Program in conjunction with the Union Township Library. It’s easy to participate; register

at the front desk in the library, check in each time you visit the library, and every month we will tally the visits for your child to

receive a prize. Additionally, each time you visit the library, your name is written on a ticket and placed in a grade level container

for a chance to win the grand prize at the end of the school year which will be a gift card per grade level.

Yearbooks are now on sale for $20. You will not want to miss the memories from the school year!

I want to thank our Willowville Families for their support and trust over the past week.

Sincerely,
