What’s up 1st issue gained valuable lessons in handling a bicycle and Finnish traffic laws. Aſter pitching their tents, the parcipants spent the eve- ning singing scout songs and enjoying an internaonal dinner featuring Italian pasta and Finnish rye bread. Many local newspapers and radio channels all around Finland have been interested in Roverway, interviewed the tribes and reported on the paths. Get together on Tuesday The camp atmosphere is raising, when the Rovers and Rangers are arriving to Evo during Tuesday. The num- ber of people will mulply up to 3600 and that forecasts for sure longer queues at the ice cream kiosk, a more crowded dining hall and even more buzz all over the camp area. The more the merrier! So let’s be friendly, smile and wish everybody welcome. The Camp Opening will gather us together when the evening falls. Quick and dirty in Evo What do you get, if you take 450 skillful adults, a lot of guiding and scoung spirit, huge amount of humor and mix it with sunshine and fun? Of course, you will get the Roverway Construcon Camp. During the last few days, all the essenal parts of a great camp have been put up: we have a wonderful climbing wall, clean running water, gorgeous cafés, a beauful row of flag poles and a com- fortable dining hall. Actually, the work at the camp site began already ten days earlier with a lile brave group of pre-construcon campers, and the things really sped up when all the IST and Finnish project organisaon members arrived at Evo. During the weekend, the Construcon camp was rein- forced also by 50 scouts who will aend Saraste camp in Evo right aſter Roverway. They were built common camp construcons with Roverway. Saraste will be organised by the Capital Area District Guides and Scouts. New friends and adventures on paths Every path has been a unique adventure somewhere in Finland, but they have also had some things in common. Many tribes have gone to the sauna and tasted Finnish food speciales such as mämmi and mustamakkara. The paths have been great and the parcipants and Tribe Leaders have been full of enthusiasm. The parcipants have enjoyed a wide variety of acvies, from climbing a fell in northeastern Lapland to exploring the UNESCO heritage site of Suomenlinna Fortress off the coast of Helsinki. Aſter the opening ceremony, Tribe W05 took a bus to Naantali, where they tried out their bicycles and learned to operate a Finnish camp cooker. The group’s first bicy- cle trip took them to Kultaranta, the summer residence of the President of Finland.
