Personal SafetyBe aware of your safetyEven if you are an eight foot tall body builder, you are still a target for assault, mugging or a drunk driver. ere are a lot of things you can do that will make your environment a lot safer. e best way to minimise the risk of attack is by tak-ing sensible precautions, e.g don’t walk home alone, trust your instincts, always have call credit etc. Most people already do this as part of their everyday lives, o en without realising it. You may already be aware of some of the suggestions, but some may be new to you, and you may nd them useful. On Monday October 3rd, WIT Students’ Union will run a Student Personal Safety Day. We will be providing materials on how to stay safe on and o

campus, top tips in stay-ing safe for your personal safety and even safe sex. We will be distributing Emergency Contact Cards for students as a way to be prepared in case of emer-gency. Also we are launch-ing a renewed scheme called Taxi Now Pay later with Rapid Cabs in Water-ford. See witsu.ie for more information. We here in the Students’ Union are delighted to say that through lobbying areas of the college there has been funding secured to provide additional lighting and security cameras on campus to keep you safe.
