What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? In this presentation, I will explore possible media institutions which can distributee my magazine. I will also present my final decision in the conclusion. There are a lot of different media institutions in the current industry. It is a good idea to choose a reliable institution in order to make the distribution of my magazine successful Due to the fact that my magazine would not be as known and popular as for example “Q”, “Clash”, “Classic Pop”, “NME” or “Billboard”, a very good distributor would be required in order to share the “Pop Spark” magazine around the market. In my opinion, I think that Bauer Media and ........... Are the most suitable options. A reason for this is that both of the institutions are very big and popular. That would be a good direction to follow as that would make my magazine more recognisable on the market and accessible for the target audience. A good media institution can also influence the reputation of the magazine what means that choosing a right distributer is a significant task.

Bauer Media and Time inc. Bauer media is a worldwide media company which offers more

than 300 magazines in 15 different countries and in addition radio and TV stations. The examples of music magazines which are distributed through this institution include: “Mojo”, “Q”, and “Kerrang”.

Time Inc. is one of the largest branded media companies in the world reaching more than 130 million people each month across multiple platforms. Time Inc. UK (formerly IPC Media) creates content for multiple platforms, across print, online, mobile, tablets and experiences. There are more than 60 iconic brands - including Decanter, Country Life, Horse & Hound, NME and What's On TV. Their employees work around the world in 33 cities and 16 countries.

Final decision In my opinion, both of the institutions: Bauer Media and Time Inc are very successful as they have a

big influence when considering the audience. There is a lot of advantages and disadvantages which need to be considered when picking suitable institution. Therefore, I have based my final decision on the research and also the knowledge gained about the institutions during my AS media lessons.

I have decided to pick Bauer media as the institution which I would like to distribute my media product. First of all, I knew that I needed to pick the institution that would be suitable to meet the purpose considering magazines. Therefore, the reason for picking this is institution is that it offers over 300 magazines in 15 different countries, where as compared to the Time Inc, they only offer around 90 brands. This shows us that Bauer Media are very successful when thinking about magazines. Distributing the ‘Pop Spark’ in many different countries will allow the magazine to be spread to a wider audience what can massively increase the consumption rate as the product would be available for more audience to buy. That can also result in a proliferation when looking at the economical side. Therefore, more profit would be made what can make any further publishing more successful. All of that can make the company successful in general.

Furthermore as a result of successes, my product will have possibility to be promoted using technological convergence, considering tablet/smart phones apps which would make the product more accessible and easier for the audience to use. Also, even wider audience would be targeted. I think that using technology to distribute my magazine is a very good idea as this method would be very suitable for the target audience of my music magazine – 18 and more years old. I am very sure that nowadays most of adults (not only young adults) carry around a Smartphone or tablet with them with a network access. Therefore, this will also increase the selling rate of my product as more people would be using it due to the comfortable and quick accessibility.
