Would you like to have a way to record your classes or meetings and check

your notes afterwards? Using AudioNote2 from Luminant Software you can do this

and more. AudioNote2 links any notes you take on your iPhone or iPad with the

audio that was being recorded when you wrote them. You can just tap on what you

wrote and the playback will jump to the point when you wrote it. You can write with

a stylus or type on a keyboard or take pictures of the board or overhead slides.

You can even import .pdf files and write notes directly on them. You can use Drop-

Box or the iCloud to store and retrieve your recorded notes. You can add notes lat-

er while you are listening to the recording. Your notes will even be highlighted as

the recording plays to let you know when they were written.

AudioNote2 can be downloaded from the App Store for free, or you can

subscribe to the Pro version for under $10 per year. This gives you improved

control over recording quality and no limit on recording time, except your available

memory. Android users can find AudioNote from Luminant on the Google Play

store for under $6, with the same features. Try out this software and let us know

how you like it!

ALUMNI CORNER: ISSUE 3

Submitted by: Cathy Lewis, TRiO Success Coach

Excited for Winter break? I know I was, back when attending college. I used the

time during winter break to review the subject material for my spring classes. For

example, when I needed a little extra help in math, I used the break to schedule

extra time and meet with my tutor to get a head start on the course material.

YouTube has some great educational videos that also helped.

Types of Study Skills: Submitted by Karen Granville, TRiO Grant

Technician

Last month I wrote about Keywords and Time management, organization and life-

style changes. Knowing this may help you determine what type of study skills

work best for you. This months study skills you can use:

Spacing (distributed learning). Spacing time between learning and re-

viewing information, instead of cramming, gives the brain time to decipher

and understand what was heard or learned.

Study environment. Where you study is just as important as your learn-

ing style. One person may need to study in a quiet environment such as a

library or bedroom, another may need music, and another may need noise

in the background (TV, radio, coffee shop).

Visual Imagery. Using images in your mind to help you “ walk through”

an environment or thought process.

Acronyms and mnemonics. A mnemonic is a method of organizing and

memorizing information, such as the colors in the rainbow: ROYGBIV (Red,

Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet).

Finding what works for you, will help you to understand what you need to do

for successful learning. Just remember, in college, YOU are responsible for

what you learn or don’t learn.

cussed. https://www.ncc.edu/campusservices/trio/trio_newsletter.shtml
