EARTH DAY IS APRIL 22: A REMINDER FROM THE ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL Every Sunday we celebrate new creation with the risen Christ. Hebrew prophets understood that thriving humanity is interdependent with thriving creation. Part of our interdependence is connected through stewardship of God’s natural resources. St. Matthew’s Environmental Stewardship Council provides a cabinet in the southeast corner of the sanctuary basement for recycling and reuse of materials that isn’t included in the city’s recycling bins. Since last year’s Earth Day we have helped recycle or reuse: batteries—30 lbs.; ink jet and laser printer cartridges—48; CDs/DVDs—39; cell phones—5; eyeglasses—27; reader pads—3; small electronics & cables—5; and digital cameras—1. Austin’s Earth Day Celebration is at Houston-Tillotson, 12:00-6:00 pm, on April 27, see: www.EarthDayAustin.com. Free paper shredding is offered Saturday, April 27, 8:00 am-1:30 pm, see: www.AustinARMA.com/shred-day . Submitted by David Hogan

Also, please let her know time/s most convenient for your children to practice. We might schedule 20-30 minutes of practice after Family Services over the next couple of months, but Mary is open to other suggestions. We have about 2 weeks to pull this together, so please contact Mary ASAP! Submitted by Mary Smith
