Duri Public School - Tolerance, Self Discipline, Independence WEEK 9, TERM 3, 2009 24th September, 2009 Monday, 28th September - Regional Athletics Carnival Tuesday, 29th September - Debate against Werris Creek Wednesday, 30th September - Maths Olympics Day at Somerton Friday, 2nd October - Last day of Term 3 Monday, 19th October - Term 4 begins for students and staff Monday, 26th October - Duri Horse Sports Day News from the Lake Keepit Excursion Having spoken to Mr Kurtz this morning it appears that the students are having a great time despite the rain and the dust storm yesterday. So far they have enjoyed archery and rock climbing and yesterday they remained inside most of the day because of the dusty conditions and participated in rope activities and Initiatives, which are problem solving activities. Mrs Mutton who was at Lake Keepit on Monday and Tuesday nights said that the students have enjoyed some nice food and that the students were looking forward to getting out on the lake today. Mr Kurtz said today was a lovely day and that the students would be going kayaking and having a cook-out later in the day where they would be cooking damper etc. There will be some photos from the Lake Keepit excursion appearing in next week’s newsletter. Debating against Werris Creek Public School Next Tuesday, 29th September four of our students will be involved in a debate against Werris Creek Public School at Werris Creek. The students involved are Alannah Penfold, Sophie Cooper, Shelby Botfield-Mohr and Emily Trewern. The topic for debate is “Technology rules our lives” and we are the affirmative. News from the Lake Keepit Excursion

Having spoken to Mr Kurtz this morning it appears that the students are having a great time

The Monster Book Club Sale

All orders and money should be returned to school by tomorrow, Friday, 25th September.

Maths Olympics Day

There is a Maths Olympics Day for the whole school being held at Somerton Public School

on Wednesday, 30th September. A permission note and more information will be handed

out on Friday when Mr Kurtz returns from the excursion.

LIBRARY NEWS Library Borrowing

There will be no more borrowing until next term.

Please make sure that all library books are returned to

school before the end of term.

A couple of weeks ago Mr and Mrs Mutton attended an Evening View Club meeting where

Mr Mutton was the guest speaker. The View Club very kindly donated some hand-crafted

Library bags to the school. Mrs Mutton will decide a way to distribute the bags to some

deserving students perhaps through a classroom competition.
