The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement. The parent survey can be conducted until this Friday, 23 October 2020. We had a great response last year and the information collected was extremely valuable to the school. Although participating in the survey is entirely voluntary, your responses are very much appreciated. To access the survey for our school go to: http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/3mty7 MULTICULTURAL PERSPECTIVES PUBLIC SPEAKING Last term, after in-class presentations, the following students participated in the area finals of the Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition. They were: Claire and Annabel from Stage 3 as well as Zoe K and Maxim from Stage 2. Claire was runner-up and Maxim won his section. Maxim now moves on to compete in the online regional final this Thursday and we wish him all the best. Congratulations to these students and to all primary students who presented their speeches. Thank you also to our teachers led by Ms Daly for all the organisation to provide our students with this opportunity throughout all the changes that occurred. STAFFING NEWS I would like to congratulate Gordon, Leah and the girls on the arrival of the newest member to their family, baby Gordon, who arrived during the holidays. It has been great to see Isabella and Millie so excited with the arrival of their little brother. I look forward to Gordon starting here at Bermagui Public School in 2026. STORMBIRDS Stormbirds is a small group program that is based on the belief that change, loss and grief are a normal and natural part of life. It provides children and young people who have lived through a natural disaster the opportunity to examine the impact of this experience on their lives. Stormbirds supports young people in understanding and managing the changes they experience as a result of a natural disaster. We are delivering the program a number of ways here at Bermagui Public School throughout term 4. Royal Far West and Red Cross are delivering sessions under the guidance of our Learning and Support Team, which is led by Mrs Pearson. We are starting with the Red Cross staff conducting two groups of K-Year 2 students for one hour per week over the next four weeks. For the first sessions, students have been recommended for the K-Year 2 program by their class teacher & notes have been sent home. We are hoping the Red Cross will be able to run the program for Years 3-6 groups later in the term. Royal Far West clinicians are also coming to our school later in the term and will conduct the four sessions over one week. More information can be found at Stormbirds-Good Grief. Please contact the school or Mrs Pearson if you are interested in your child participating in this program later in the year or next year.
