Visual Trailhead Ideas Concept Page

The purpose is to provide a visual marker at the “hidden” entrance to the land lab trail that leads most efficiently to the classroom amphitheater (2 main objectives described below).

1. Trailhead Information Kiosk*An informational kiosk will be constructed and installed at the trailhead.*The kiosk will have a roof overhang to protect Plexiglas and puzzle art installation.*The Plexiglas will allow for information (i.e. photos, reports, student artwork, etc.) to be posted and changed.*The 2014-15 puzzle art collaborations between 5th grade, preschool and Ms. Bekah’s elementary class will be attached to kiosk.*2014-15 puzzle art: 5th graders drew themed outlines (tree, animal, flower). Two outlines per theme were chosen, projected onto & cut from plywood sheets into puzzle pieces, and cross-grade level student buddies painted pieces.*2015 goals: reassemble outline puzzles, place dark outlines around puzzle pieces as aesthetically appropriate, mount to background boards, protect with marine-grade varnish, and attach to kiosk.

2. Gate Posts 2014-15 ceramic art: ceramic “cookies” will be created through buddy

collaborations with 5th grade, preschool and Ms. Bekah’s elementary class.

2015-16 goals: ceramic “cookies” will be utilized in design of 2 gate posts constructed & installed at trail entrance.
