Welcome

On behalf of the Board and staff of WEConnect International, I am pleased to welcome you to WEConnect International Day 2019! This is an important day for our unique network of corporate members, women business owners, and partners to widen their circle of global contacts, develop their professional skills, and come away with new ideas for business growth.

Thank you to our generous sponsors, Intel Corporation, UPS, Johnson & Johnson, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Freeport McMoRan, GlaxoSmithKline, Marriott International, Global Affairs Canada, and Adient for making today possible. We have guests from around the world, representing six continents and more than 12 countries. Our speakers today represent the corporate world, government, and female entrepreneurs from Canada, Chile, India, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

This year WEConnect International celebrates our tenth anniversary as an organization, and over the years, we have realized that not only have we created a global platform for buyers and sellers, but we have also created a global community unlike any other. We have expanded our certification to 45 countries, with more being added each year. In addition, we have women business owners in our database from more than 110 countries. Our corporate members include some of the largest companies in the world and their commitments have led to the increase of real money into the hands of women worldwide.

I also want to recognize our partner, the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). This week, many of you will have the opportunity to take advantage of their National Conference and Business Fair in addition to our event today. WBENC is our exclusive certification partner in the U.S. and they have thousands of women-owned businesses from across the country here this week. Whether it is your first time, or you are a seasoned attendee, the full week of events will offer multiple opportunities to network and learn.

And, so, I invite you to really make the most of today – and hope that you will experience what we like to call the #WEConnectEffect – not only connecting with others for useful insights, potential business leads and new ideas, but also finding new friendships and expanding this incredible community.
