From Our Board President

February Club Report

We have great news, our board has decided to name David to the position of club’s General Manager. In this new position, all department heads will report to

David and he will report to our board. We believe David will do a great job and feel he has earned this promotion. He has our full support!

T and I went to the Trinity planning board meeting concerning the housing development to the left of holes 10 and 11. They tabled the motion for the next

meeting. We did however meet the developer and he shared his ideas with us. We came out of our meeting feeling very good about his plans. He seemed willing to work with us. He showed us the type of homes he will build and the price range.

More will come as we move forward.

As a reminder, tickets for our drawing are still available and if you are interested in helping support the club, please see any board member or the pro shop for details. One of my goals is to communicate more with our membership and get your involvement. We are now only a month away from some improving

weather.

Get out your clubs so Ben and Wes will repair, clean, and add new grips. They are also cleaning and shinning golf shoes. They did 5 Pair for me

and did a great job. We are also working on adding a water line from the 13th fairway to the tennis courts. This will pay for itself the first month and will keep us

from buying water from Thomasville. Their will be up to $2,000 a month savings in peak times. We have added new membership opportunities trying

to improve our numbers. Please continue to get the word out about membership at Colonial.

Thanks for your time, Lanny Jarrell

Club President

Colonial Country Club will be doing its 2nd Annual Reverse Raffle Drawing on April 7 at 7pm. The  cket cost is $100 and it includes dinner for two and a chance to win $4,000. We will also be offering a cash bar as well. The proceeds of the reserve raffle drawing will be used to make  improvements on the club grounds from the recommenda on of the grounds commi ee and will be approved by the board of directors. Some ideas we have in mind to enhance the golf course are:

•  Installing Tennessee Field Stones around the cart path edges to fix washout areas. We will start working on this is in late March to early April.

•  We will remove and reduce the slope of the edge of the bunkers in front of #11 & #12. This will give the golfer more flat landing area for his approach shot. This will be completed in late May or June when sod becomes available to repair the damage.

•  We will be obtaining a master plan drawing to replace the shrubbery around the clubhouse which will enhance the clubhouse grounds with beau ful color and contrast to the building.

•  Over the years we have had vehicle vandalism on the #18 green so to fix this issue we could poten ally install a split rail fence along the roadside to fix any poten al injury. This would also mimic the split rail behind #3 green and along #7 tee boxes.

Over the past years we have lost some crepe myrtles due to winter injury so we will be    installing beau ful pink muhly grass in its place around the driving range area.

All of this couldn’t be done without the wonderful support of the membership to par cipate in the reverse raffle drawing each and every year. Thank you so much for your support and we look forward to seeing everyone on April 7. You may purchase  ckets through the Pro Shop or see  anyone who is on the greens commi ee.

Golf News

I would like to make everyone aware of our new shoe cleaning service, At only $5.00 a pair. This service consists of cleaning, conditioning and treating your shoes. This process will help

keep your shoes looking great and lasting longer!

This time of year is also a great time to get your clubs re-gripped. We use all of the name brand grips and we can help

you decide which grip and which size is best for you. If your grips are getting worn, they can cause you to increase your grip pressure which in turn can hurt your golf swing. It is

recommended you change your grips at least once a year depending on how often you play.

Over the next few weeks, we will have our spring apparel and equipment arriving. Please stop by the golf shop

and check out the new gear for the upcoming season.

Handicap Seminar On march 4, 6pm-7pm we will have Tom Johnson from the cga

presenting a 1 hour handicap seminar. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. This seminar will be free of charge as well.

Don't forget to mark it on your calendar! There are several changes made this year and many more to come in the next couple years. As a golfer, you are responsible for your handicap

and knowing how the handicap system works. Please try and come out for this event. It will be very educational.

Also, the Friday night member mixer drawing will take place following the seminar.

Rules of Golf:

There are 4 rules changes that have been made this year. Rule 14-1B being most effective to our membership. This rule is

pertaining to anchoring of the golf club. You will no longer be able to anchor your golf club to your body. For further

questions regarding this rule change, please contact the golf shop.

Hickory golf

I would like to let everyone know that we have a couple sets of hickory shaft golf clubs in the golf shop available for anyone to

hit on the driving range or play golf with, free of charge. Hopefully, within the next few months we will be able to have a

hickory shaft golf tournament here at Colonial. If you have never played golf with hickory shaft clubs, it is pretty neat and is easier than you would think. This may be a once in a lifetime opportunity

for us here at colonial. For any other questions, call the golf shop.

March Trivia Question

Each month I will have a trivia

question. The first member to call in with the answer will win a

pro shop prize.

Question: In the wood racquet days, a

special string was put at the top and/or bottom row of the

racquet. What was the purpose of this

special string, and what were the two choices a player

would call out?
