Next Week… In Language Arts we will identify & produce rhyming words in response to an oral prompt, track each word in a sentence & each syllable in a word, track isolated phonemes, and identify and match previously learned uppercase/lowercase letter names & sounds. In Math, we will be reasoning about sets of 7 objects in circular & scattered configurations, writing the #7, comparing counts of 8 in linear & array configurations, matching with #8, arranging & strategizing 8 beans in circular & scattered configurations, placing objects on 5-group mats, and organizing/counting 9 geometric objects in linear & array configurations.

Reading Book Next week’s reading book from the Harcourt Reading series is called, “The Party.”

Sight Word Our sight words for next week are we, on, the, go, to, and like. Letter of the Week Consonant Pp will be introduced next week.

Show & Tell Please help your child find something that is related to our APPLE theme or that begins with the letter /Pp/.

Cromer News…Book It! Program Your child will be able to participate in the Book It! Program starting in October. See your child’s book bag (Ziploc bag) for information about the program… essentially if your child reads 10 books and “records” it onto the Reading Log (given to you this Friday), he/she will receive a free pizza certificate to Pizza Hut for every 10 books read. Limit 1 pizza per month! Books will be coming home in a Ziploc (1 per day) for you to read with your child…STARTING TODAY !^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Picture Day Time to put on your best smile! Picture Day will be held on Tuesday, September 20th. If you have any special requests, please let me know. It is very important that your child be at school on this day, as school pictures is used for their official barcoded lunch card. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Autumn Hike @ Veit Springs We have scheduled our 1st Kindergarten field trip of the year! All of the Kindergarten classes are planning to go on a field trip to Veit Springs (SF Peaks) for an Autumn hike on Tuesday, September 27th @ 9:00-2:00. All parents are welcome to come. The bus may be full so if you are willing to drive behind the bus, let me know.

Classroom News…

Apples Needed Please send in 2 or 3 apples to school by September 26 so that we may use them for applesauce and various other projects. We will be sorting the apples by size and color, graphing, having a “taste test,” and making applesauce.

Assistance League Forms Assistance League is an organization that helps you by donating items to your child. I randomly select who receives the forms (by drawing names out of a “hat”). If you receive a yellow form and are not interested, please send the blank form back and I will choose another child. If you would like to get a donation from this wonderful organization, please contact me. Thank you!
