Purpose: The purpose of the Leave Policy is to provide a framework which supports the management and use of leave within the Company. This policy and procedure should facilitate the process of applying for leave, the decision making process and approval of leave. Scope: This policy applies to all employees within the company. This Policy and procedure also relates to all forms of leave (excluding public holidays) such as; Annual leave Sick leave Bereavement leave Leave without pay (LWoP) Parental leave Jury leave Special or extended leave Related Documents: Leave request form Employee Handbook Contractual Terms & Conditions including Collective agreement/s. The following legislation applies: Holidays Act 2003 Employment Relations Act 2000 Requesting/Approving Leave Procedure: Staff requiring/requesting leave should do so in writing using the appropriate leave request form. Wherever possible, requests should be made reasonably in advance of when the leave is required. Leave may be declined as a result of a lack of adequate notice being given and this will be at the discretion of the person approving the leave. The mechanical fitter is responsible for undertaking scheduled preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance work for both sites. You may also be required to assist in the installation of new plant, but ultimately your goal will be to ensure all company plant and machinery is maintained and improved for optimal production. We seek an experienced and/or qualified mechanical fitter (relevant trade qualification) who is prepared to work day and evening shifts. In addition, you will be able to work unsupervised, have exceptional time management skills, the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people, demonstrated problem solving skills and a commitment to health & safety. Ideally you have already worked in a wood processing or manufacturing plants and have knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics. A competitive remuneration package is available. The successful applicant will be required to pass a drug and pre-employment medical assessment. The mechanical fitter is responsible for undertaking scheduled preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance work for both sites. Leave may be requested at short notice, such as bereavement leave or sick leave, subject to the employee directly contacting their Supervisor/Foreman/Manager. Leave approval is at the discretion of the Employer.

Requesting LeaveStaff must, where reasonable, give adequate notice (at least 7 days) when applying for leave. Where appropriate, all leave should be requested in writing with the following process applied;
