Vacancy for Environmental Monitoring Trainee

Castings Technology International Ltd (Cti) is a Research and Technology Organisation based at the Advanced Manufacturing Park near Sheffield. Cti specialises in providing technical support to the cast metals industry in the UK and overseas. We have a section dedicated to the control and measurement of environmental impacts (emissions, noise, workplace dust etc.) of industrial operations.

An enthusiastic, hardworking individual is required to join the Environmental Department monitoring team to be trained and given experience in this field. We anticipate that this person will have studied technical or science based subjects to A-Level and be looking for further development within a working environment.

The Company is based at the Advanced Manufacturing Park near Sheffield, and the work will also involve stack emission and workplace monitoring at industrial sites in all parts of the UK. Support activities include both laboratory and office duties. These include preparation and maintenance of sampling equipment, the production of reports and quotations, use of computer spreadsheets, word processing and quality assurance activities.

The applicant should be available to travel within the UK, and some of the work will involve overnight stays. Due to the nature of the work, irregular hours are often required. A clean driving licence will be an advantage.
