Magical Maths TaskEach week practise counting forwards, backwards from 20, in tens, five and twos.Look at numbers in different orders. Our aim is to recognise 1-20.

Explain that halving is splitting something into 2 equal parts.Cut some things in half to show this e.g. a slice of bread, an apple, a play dough shape. Look at the difference between something that is cut in half i.e. into 2 equal parts, and something cut into 2 unequal pieces. Twinkl have some halving sheetshttps://www.twinkl.co.uk/resource/what-is-half-halving-activity-cut-outs-t-n-7553

For a challenge you could collect an even number of objects e.g. raisins, cars, counters. Ask your child if they can split them in half.

Get creativeCan you make a bird feeder for your garden?

You will need –Lard, suet or solid vegetable fatSome of the following - wild bird seed, oats, breadcrumbs, sultanas, currents, unsalted peanutsEmpty, clean yoghurt pots and string Melt the fat/suet in a saucepan and add your dry ingredients.A ratio of 2 parts dry to 1 part fat/suet works well.Stir well.Leave to cool while you prepare your pots.Make a small hole in the bottom of the yoghurt pots and thread through a length of string. Leave about 10cm at one end and 20 cm at the other.Fill the pots with the mixture, pressing it down tightly. Put them in the fridge to set overnight. When it is set, cut away the pot.Tie a large knot in the shorter piece of string (the bottom). Use the string at the other end to hang it up outside. It is a good idea to put a small circle of cardboard with a hole at the centre at the bottom before tying the knot to stop the feeder slipping off the string. This link has some more bird feeder ideas -https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/makes/bird-feeder

Get moving Focus skill: throwing into a target Set up a target using a bucket, box, hoop or by marking out an area. Start standing near the target and try to throw a ball or beanbag into it.When this gets easy, take a step further away from the target and try again. You could make a game with a few targets and put a number in each target. Throw 3 times and add up your score.

Life SkillThis week can you help with the hoovering?Choose a room to keep clean and hoover it when you need to.
