Non-school days:Our full day school age program offers all the above plus it includes lunch.

Summer Camp: Our Summer camp program is filled with all of the above and so much more! We offer weekly field trips, visitors, and exciting activities. Our summer is carefully planned based on the interest of the children.

Assessments

A written assessment(infant-prek) will be issued in the Fall (November), Winter (February) Spring (May) and Summer (September).

For your child’s formal assessment (if applicable at your center), Kiddie Kollege utilizes Teaching Strategies Gold, which is an on line, ongoing observation-based assessment system.  The assessment process is a continuous cycle of observing, collecting facts, analyzing and responding, evaluating, summarizing, planning and communicating to others. Throughout your child’s school year all the information and documentation gathered from the assessments are saved and entered into your child’s assessment profile. Kiddie Kollege does not report child level data to ODJFS pursuant to 5101:2-17-02 of the Administrative Code.

center. Parents are responsible for removing their infant from their infant carrier. We ask that you assist your child with the removal of coats, hats, scarves and boots.

If your child is scheduled to arrive at our center from another program/school and does not arrive, we will first contact the parent to confirm that the child is scheduled to be at our center that day, and then contact the program/school. It is very important that parents contact the center when their child is not going to be attending Kiddie Kollege.

Any special messages, medications, special pick-up notes, etc. are to be given to the Administrator/Designee.

Children’s Enrollment and Medical Records

Children’s enrollment records will be on file by the first day of attendance. Medical examinations and immunization records must be provided within 30 days of enrollment and kept current. Once the child enters elementary school medicals are not required. If you wish to request an exemption to the recommended medical immunization records please see your Administrator.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has released recommended guidelines for vaccinating young children. Kiddie Kollege and the American Academy of Pediatrics strongly support the program and urge you to follow its guidelines. We follow individual state child care licensing regulations regarding medical examinations and immunization records for your child. For detailed information regarding immunization regulations and recommendations, please visit the Centers for Disease Control website: www.cdc.gov.

Note: If a parent refuses to sign the Emergency Transportation Form, Kiddie Kollege will deny enrollment of a child (refer to page 3 of enrollment form)

Children will be released only to those adults whose names are on the release form unless the Administrator is notified in writing (email, text or hand written note). A picture identification will be required of persons picking up the child. Please remember to update this form as needed.

Without a court document, both parents have equal rights to custody. We are legally bound to respect the wishes of the parent with legal custody based on a certified copy of the most recent court order, active restraining order, or court-ordered visitation schedule. We will not accept the responsibility of deciding which parent has legal custody where there is no court documentation.

We may refuse to release children if we have reasonable cause to suspect that any person picking up a child is under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or is physically or emotionally impaired in any way that may endanger the child. To protect your child, we may request that another adult listed as an emergency contact pick up the child or we may call the police to prevent potential harm to your child. MEDICATIONS

A Request for Administration of Medication Form must be completed as required by state licensing regulations for all items below. All medications/topical products must be labeled with child’s first and last name. Children with a chronic condition such as severe allergies or asthma, or other special circumstances, must have a Medical/Physical Care Plan on file for medications needed due to a chronic condition. At Kiddie Kollege we value the importance of children being served nutritious meals. We provide each child with breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. Our menus meet the required servings for each age group and are guided by the USDA, CACFP meal patterns and state licensing. Each meal has been carefully designed to include a variety of textures and colors. They provide a variety of fresh vegetables and fruits, as well as at least one whole grain per day and include minimal sugar.

We will provide supplemental foods for each food group due to allergies or cultural/religious

beliefs. Please ensure this is communicated in writing on your child’s enrollment form and with the center administrator.

We understand at times a child’s diet may not permit them to have all required items on our menus. If your child requires a modified diet, needs food supplements or has other dietary restrictions please see your center administrator. We will provide a special diet sheet that will need to be completed by your child’s physician.

We ask that parents do not bring food from home for their child unless they have a special diet sheet on file. On occasion we will have celebrations at which time your child may bring food to share with their class. We ask that these items be commercially packaged with ingredient labels. We strive to be a peanut free center due to allergies. We also ask that no peanut or peanut butter products be brought into our centers.

Breastfeeding

Our team is here to provide loving and nurturing care for your infant. We ask that you communicate often about their needs and what they are developmentally ready to be fed. Our infant menu meets the required servings guided by the USDA, CACFP meal pattern and state licensing. We offer to provide infant formula as well as single stage jar foods and cereal.

We encourage and support breastfeeding. The center provides a comfortable area for you to breastfeed your infant or pump if you choose to.

Diaper and Toilet Training

All diapered children will be changed every two (2) hours unless diaper is soiled before the two (2) hour schedule. The two (2) hour policy will be followed unless the parent specifies, in writing, a preferred diapering schedule.

Every child begins toilet training at a different pace and we will follow your child’s lead. We will work together with you & your child to encourage reaching this new milestone.

Rest Time

Infants sleep according to their schedule and will be put to sleep on their back.Nap and rest time will be in accordance with your child's developmental needs. Children who do not sleep will be provided quiet activities to do (on their cot) while the sleeping children finish their rest.

Individual parent/teacher conferences may be scheduled if either party deems it necessary. Please see your Administrator to schedule.

Positive Guidance The center’s philosophy on discipline is that we believe that children can learn through positive reinforcement and redirection. We emphasize appropriate behaviors rather than focusing on inappropriate behaviors. It is our hope that each child will learn self- discipline through positive guidance. Our expectations will be kept within the child’s capabilities and the child will be made aware of these expectations.

11

Page 14: kiddiekollegeohio.com · Web viewOur before- and after-care programs go well beyond homework help. We also work on each child as a whole f ocusing on emotions and behaviors, sustaining

Our specific methods of guidance are:● Setting clear limits

● Redirecting the child to an appropriate activity

● Showing children positive alternatives

● Modeling the desired behavior

● Reinforcing appropriate behavior

● Encouraging children to control their own behavior, cooperating with others and solving problems by talking things out

● Separation from the situation, if needed, shall last no more than one minute per each year of the child's age and shall not be used with infants. Upon the child’s return to the activity, the provider shall review the reason for the separation and discuss the expected behavior with the child

● Holding a child for a short period of time, such as in a protective hug

If attempts to correct behavior between parents/center should fail, Kiddie Kollege reserves the right to dismiss the child until such behaviors cease.

We also ask that while on our property you refrain using any form of guidance that is not consistent with our positive guidance policy.

In accordance with state childcare licensing regulations (5101:2-12-19) our staff never uses corporalpunishment or prohibited discipline techniques.Anti-Bullying

We promote and support a center that is physically and emotionally safe and secure for all children. To protect the rights of all children enrolled for a safe and secure learning environment, Kiddie Kollege prohibits acts of bullying, harassment and other forms of aggression and violence. Bullying/harassment will not be tolerated by any staff, students or parents. See termination of services.

Biting

Biting is a normal stage of development that is common among infants and toddlers. Impulse control can lead children to bite as a way of communicating their needs. When biting does occur, our response will be to care for and help the child who was bitten and to help the biter learn a more appropriate behavior. Our focus will not be on punishment for biting, but on effective behaviors that address the specific reason for biting.

It is the policy of Kiddie Kollege that the welfare and safety of every child be a first priority. The Administrator has the right to determine if the biter is endangering the safety of other children within the classroom. If after working with the biting child and continual biting by the same child continues, dismissal from the center may be warranted.

Outdoor Play

Outdoor play occurs daily, weather permitting. In the event weather conditions prevent outdoor

play the action room will be utilized or an alternate gross motor activity will be substituted. Children will not be taken outside when the temperature (wind chill and heat index factored in) drops below 32 degrees or rises above 90 degrees.

Clothing

Children attending day care should dress for PLAY. Please send your children with the proper clothing so they may be comfortable and safe whenever we are outside. Shoes must have a closed heel or heel strap-we recommend tennis shoes.

Please provide two complete sets of extra clothing, including socks. We request an extra pair of shoes and a sweatshirt be kept in the center for your child at all times.

We cannot assume responsibility for lost, stained, soiled or torn clothing.

Personal Belongings

Please label all items brought from home with your child’s name (i.e., clothes, bottles, diapers, pacifiers, sheets, blankets, etc.). Sheets and soiled clothing will be sent home as-needed for laundering and return to the center.

We request that you do not allow your child to bring toys from home into the center unless they are part of a show-and-tell activity.

Cell phones and other electronic devices (ipods, ipads, etc.) should be left at home whenever possible. Any brought to the center must be stored in the off position in child’s cubby or personal backpack. Special electronic device days may be planned by your Administrator throughout the school year. We cannot assume responsibility for loss of, or damage to, personal belongings.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

Security There is a security entry system located at the front of all centers for your child’s protection. When entering the building please close the door behind you. Please do not hold the door open for anyone. Any visitor should use the phone in the lobby to contact the Administrator for assistance.

Certain areas of all centers are subject to video surveillance.  Placement of cameras may vary by location and, unless otherwise advised, cameras may record at all times.  Certain footage may be retained at the discretion of management for internal use and review.  For privacy reasons, it is our policy that footage cannot be made available for outside review.

Emergency Preparedness/Evacuation Plans

The center conducts quarterly lock down drills, monthly fire drills and seasonal tornado drills in order to be prepared for any of these events. A record of above completed drills are posted in the center. In addition, an emergency plan and list of procedures are available in each classroom.

In the event of a general emergency (such as loss of power, heat, water) we will notify parents if

we are unable to meet the needs of the children. The center will follow state procedures in the event that an emergency would occur during center hours.

Should we need to evacuate due to immediate area threat (fire, flood, weather or any unforeseeable event that may place the children and employees at risk) transportation and safe places will be determined by the local fire and/or police department.

Parents will be contacted as soon as possible to be reunited with their child. If a parent cannot be reached, we will contact the emergency contacts as listed on your child’s enrollment information.

Incident/Injury

We take every precaution to make sure your child is safe and that you receive communication regarding incidents or injuries. There is always a staff member present that is trained in First Aid, Communicable Disease, Child Abuse and CPR.

First aid will be administered by a trained caregiver in the event that your child sustains a minor injury (e.g., scraped knee). If the injury produces any type of swelling or needs medical attention, you will be contacted immediately. Each center is equipped with first aid kits meeting the state requirements.

In the event of a serious medical emergency, the child will be transported to the hospital immediately by ambulance, while we try to contact you or an emergency contact. A staff member will accompany your child. In the case of an incident/injury you will receive an incident report at pickup.

Note: If a parent refuses to sign the Emergency Transportation Form, Kiddie Kollege will deny enrollment of a child (refer to page 3 of enrollment form).
