World War IIHonors Research Project
March-April 2012USII.7
Overview: What kind of project is this?
During the World War II unit, students will be researching and writing about different parts/aspects of the war that they choose. First, students will use words and images to create a research portfolio. Second, students will use the portfolio to create an 8-9 paragraph rough and final draft essay on the three most important parts/aspects of World War II.
In and outside of history class students will focus on gathering and processing information and images from primary and secondary sources to provide the “research” for the portfolio.
Next, students will combine parts of their portfolio together to create a rough draft essay which the teacher will review and edit.
Students will then carefully review their rough draft and teacher comments before completing and handing in a final essay draft.
Read the following directions for your portfolio and essay carefully

You must have at least three secondary sources for your information. o Examples: class notes, class power point, American Journey or History Alive! o You may use other books or articles on WWII from the school or public library,
