Year 1 Weeks 9-10

We aim for the children attending school to complete the following activities on each day. If you would like to follow the same timeline at home then you may or you can pick and choose activities you would like to complete. There is no expectation you complete all of the activities.

Week 9 Writing Reading Topic or craft MathsMonday

Think of a time you’ve felt like each of these emojis. Can you write a sentence or draw a picture about each one?

PSHE – Talk to someone about how you’re feeling about what is going on.

Tuesday Use the Emoji Code Breaker sheet (page 2-3) and the codes to figure out what the words say.Can you draw your name using the secret code?

EX. Can you write a secret sentence using the code?

After reading or listening to a story, talk to someone about how the characters felt. Do you think their feelings changed at different points of the story?

Computing – Use the word document to type up how do you feel today and why are you feeling that way.

Wednesday Look at this dog emoji. Imagine that he (or she!) is going on an adventure. Write or draw about what the dog gets up to!Where does he go?What does he see?

Art – Make a double sided emoji mask (or two separate masks). One side needs to be happy or silly and the other side can be different. You can use the mask to show how you’re feeling!

Thursday Use conjunctions (and, but, because, etc.) to become a ‘Feelings detective’.Observe your partners’ facial expressions and body language. Can you guess how they are feeling and why? Write down your guessing in details and give reasons. Remember to use conjunctions!

Story map a story you have heard. It could be a new story you’ve listened to online or one you’ve read at home.

Geography - Use positional language to walk your emoji dog through the maze. See page 4.

Friday What do you love?

Tuesday Create a story map featuring a monster.

Is it a good monster or a bad monster?What happens at the beginning of your story?How does it end?

Computing – Use painting software to mix colours. Could you create your own picture of a ‘colour monster’?

Wednesday Write your Monster Story using your story map to help.

Don’t forget to use capital letters, full stops, phonics and conjunctions!
