B IBLE STUDY

9 .0 0 A.M. - 9 .4 5 A.M.

Theme: In The Name Of Jesus ChristSub-Theme: The Humanity of Christ (1)Topic: His Historical ExistenceText: Luke 2:1-20Aim: To acquaint us with the history of the humanity

of Christ

Introduction: The humanity of Jesus is not a fabricated story. Scriptures have even recorded the names of kings who ruled at one point or the other before, during or after the birth of Jesus, including Herod, Pontius Pilate, Caesar Augustus and other Roman Governors. This study will help us appreciate and establish these historical facts.

Study Guides/Questions:1. What do you understand by the term, “The humanity of

Christ”?2. What can we learn about the history of Jesus’ human

existence on earth from the genealogy recorded in Matt. 1:1-17?

3. Read Luke 1:5; 2:1-4; 3:1-3; John 3:1, 18:33, and identify some of the historical figures at the time of the birth or death of Jesus Christ; pointing out how this can help our understanding of His historical existence.

4. What practical steps can we take as believers to preserve the essential information about our faith to future generations? Deuteronomy 6:6-7.

Conclusion: As believers, it is important for us to understand the history of the humanity of Christ as it will help us to duly appreciate not just His sacrifice on our behalf, but also the truth of His human existence at a point in the history of our world.

Food For Thought: Established history does not lie.

Memory Verse: Matthew 1:1 “The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham”.

“LOVE OTHERS AS THYSELF,”

1. “Love others as thyself,”

This is the law of God;

His being crucified has proved this

That He loves us so much.

2. “Love others as thyself,”

In warfare and in peace;

He has taught us to love our foes;

Love should replace hatred.

3. “Love others as thyself,”

Jesus is warning thee;

We must heed this and get prepared

And we should love others.

4. “Love others as thyself,”

And also thy neighbour,

Including all that surround thee;

Love also all thy foes.

5. We must love our comrades,

Just as Jesus loves us;

Even Jesus loves all His foes;

REQUIREMENT FOR THE KINGDOM CITIZENSHIP: LOVING THE UNLOVABLE

A new command I give you: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another John 13:34

It’s easy to love people who love us back, but it may seem difficult to love those who hurt and wronged us at times. Our ability to love others on our own is limited. It’s circumstantial, based on how we feel about the other person and the way he or she treats us. But our Lord Jesus Christ wants us to love others, whether good or bad to us the same way God loves us. God did not separate the bad from good He gives all rain, sunlight and other necessary things. ‘But I tell you love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you that you may be the children of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous Matt. 5:45. John the apostle warns us that hating someone makes us murderers and such person has no eternal life in him 1John 3:14-15. Paul in his epistle to the Romans encouraged the Christians to love all without any segregation. Romans 12: 9-20.

Jesus gave up His life for us before we ever knew Him. Romans 8:5. The willingness to love those who don’t deserve it is shows the kind of person we are in Christ.

God wants us to love even those who are hard to love, Our Lord Jesus said, “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even the sinners love those who love them Luke 6:32. By this He equates those who only love those who love them with the sinners. In order words, those who love only those who love, do good or treat them well are also sinners. As we open our hearts to love others, we experience a deeper relationship with God: “Those who obey His commands live in Him and He in them 1John 3:24

Brethren, are there people in your life that you think you can never love? Ask God for help, Joseph, despite the attitude and hatred of his brothers, he still showed love to them Gen. 45:1-3. King Saul was after David’s life; he had opportunity

to kill him but he refused to do so, he spared his life. 1Sam. 24:6-8. He even showed favour to the house of Saul. David asked, “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake? 2Sam. 9:1. God has

given us all a great capacity to love, and in His strength, we can overcome all barriers.

You may not be able to change unlovable people but you can develop your love until you can love them just the way they are. Jesus demonstrated love to all the people around Him yet some remained as they were and they crucified Him. Stephen, at the point of death still showed love, praying to God to forgive those who were stoning him but this did not appeal to the enemies, they stoned him to death. Loving people no matter how badly they act and no matter how terrible their attitude is something we can do only if we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord.

Jesus loved, and He commanded us to love with the same self-giving love. Ephesians 2:4 says, “But because of his great love for us. He taught us the principle of love. He sowed seeds of love in us. And, to ensure our attainment in loving people unconditionally, He gave us the Spirit of Love, the Holy Spirit who empowers us every day.

All we have to do is to realize how much God loves us despite our unworthiness; He did not count our sins against us 2Cor. 5:19. Let us make the decision to extend same love to others whoever they may be. May this same attitude which was in Christ be given to us to love others without any discrimination in Jesus name.Happy new month. Wishing you glorious things throughout this month in Jesus name.
