NEW YORK Oct 22 The Stock Mar-
ket opened showing small and irregularcbanges in comparison with yesterdaysfinal prices American stocks wereshown at substantial depressions in theLondon market and the dealings here forforeign account were almost exclusivelyupon the selling side when businessopened
Much of the pressure shown in theLondon market was said to reflect sell-

sibility of early exports of gold to Europe and sentiment In general seemedto be depressed
The dealings at the outset of businesswere in fairly large volume and well dis-
tributed In the railw v list St PaulNorfolk and Western Reading Balti-more and Ohio and the Atchison stockscontinued to lead in respect of activityIn the local traction group BrooklynRapid Transit was comparatively firm onthe encouraging statement of earningssubmitted by the company this morning
The increase In net returns for themonth of September amounted to about25 per cent and the company reports asimiliar increase in net with the courseof the current fiscal year Movements-In the industrial and miscellaneousstocks were closely in line with those inthe general market
