wherehelivedasachild.WedrovepastCape

PrimarySchoolasthiswastheschoolheattended

theoldMitchellsandButlersfactorysiteonCape

Hill.WelookedatthecenotaphandsawwhereWilliamSavagesnamehadbeenchiselledinto

theirrst everbakeoff.Thewholeschoolparticipatedinthisextremelyexcitingevent.Thebakeoffallowedclassestocompeteagainstoneanother.AlltheyeargroupsbasedtheircakedesignsontheircreativetopicsfortheBigAdventure.

onWilliamSavage.Itwasamemorial

tohislifeasaWW2herowhoservedintheRoyal NavyandwhohelpedtosaveEnglandfrombeingtakenoverbyGermany.Webakedourcakewhichhadthreelayersofsponge;onewasavouredwithvanillaessence,onehadastrawberryavour andthethirdlayerwasavouredwithlemon.WethenmademiniVictoriaCrossmedalsoutoficing,whichwe

stuckontotheoutsideofourcake.

6AhadmadetheircakeintoatanktotinwiththeWW2theme.6Mscakewas

ofageneralWW2theme;ithadasoldiers helmetontop

coveredin

camouageandpoppies.There

weresomanyamazingcakes;Year3madecakestolooklikeaCadburyDoubleDeckerbarandabarofDairyMilktheylookedsolifelike!Year2createdaretruckwithtwosparklersrepresentingare;theyalsomadeareddoubledeckerbus.Year5createdTudorthemedcakesandYear1haddecoratedtheircupcakesaslittlebuses.Year4linkedtheirthemetoavisittoMoseleyBogandReceptionhadturned

theircakesintoveryslipperysnakes!Thejudgeslookedat andsampledallofthecakesandeachonewasjudgedonappearance,tasteandtexture.Thetotalpointsthat couldbeaccumulatedwere40;atonepoint6Wwereintheleadwith37points,wewereallreallyexciteduntil5Escakewasjudged-theygot38points!5Ehadpippedustothepostand6Whadtosettleforsecondplace.Afterthe

bakeoffhadbeenjudgedweall triedapieceofourcake;itwasdelicious!

Wedallhadanamazingtimetakingpartinthebakeofffromdesigningourcakes,icingthem,displayingthemandnallythejudgingof them.WearealllookingforwardtothenextVPAbakeoff!

WeallhadafantastictimeonFriday15thSeptemberwhenwetookpartinourannualSportsDay.Unfortunately,wehadtocompeteinourhouseteamsindoors,astheweatherwassobad!Thedayturnedouttobeveryinspiringandfulloffun.Weusedourcollaborationskillsaswecompetedagainsteachotherinteams.MrBlackwoodhadorganisedthedayasheisourPEco-ordinator.Everyoneenjoyedthevariousactivitieswhichweweretakingpartin.Thesewere:DizzyIzzy,aRelayRaceandSkippingontheMove.MrsKandaandMrsSmithwerethe

SPORTSDAYjudgesastheykeptawatchfuleyeonthescores!Membersof5BhelpedtosupportKeyStage1childrenduringtheraces.Thegamesthattheyoungerchildrentookpartinwere:DressingUp,JumpingRopeandDizzyIzzy.Everyonewasreallyexcited;therewerelotsofsmilesandexcitement

throughouttheday.Allofthechildrenwaitedpatientlytondoutwhichhousehadwon...MembersofBluehousewerethrilledastheyweretoldtheywerethewinners!

brickbybrick,attheBlackCountryLiving

Museum(BCLM).Mygroupwasnding

outaboutthelifeofaboycalledHarry

Parkin.Wewenttoseehishouseandthe

schoolthathewentto,welearnedalot

abouthischildhood,hisfamily,howhe

livedandworked.

Wealsovisitedotherplacesofinterestat

theBCLM:alocalshop,asweetshop,a

churchandweevenwenttothefunfair.

Wesawthattheridesandamusements

werecompletelymadeoutofwood

comparedtotodaysstrongmetalframed

rides.Onceyouwereontheridesthough,

youwouldneverknowthattherewereany

differences,astherideswerejustasfun

andjustasfastthenastheyarenow!

IenjoyedmytriptotheBCLMand

Ilearnedalotofthingsthat Ididntalreadyknow.Iwouldrecommendthis

placeofinteresttoallmyfriends.

OnFridayNovember15th2013Year5wenttothelocalGurdwara.WewalkedtoandfromtheGurdwarawhichissituatedonSmethwickHighStreet.Whenwegottherewetookourshoesoffandwashedourhandsasamarkofrespect.Wethensatinthemainhallwherewesawamanwhowaschantingunusualwords,andwefoundoutthathewasprayingaloud.WethenwentupstairsandmetaworkerfromtheGurdwara;weaskedhimlotsofquestions.Wewerethengivensomedeliciousfood.AftereatingwewentintoaclassroomandlearnedsomeinterestingfactstodowiththeSikhreligion.Beforeweleftwetooksomecoolphotographs.Someoftheseha
